Sony Expands PlayStation Network ID, PSN Wallet to More Devices

200°
259w ago - At CES 2010 in Las Vegas, Kaz Hirai confirmed Sony's plan to expand PlayStation Network beyond the PS3 and PSP to their other products, including Bravia televisions and VAIO laptops.

With over 38 million-strong in the PlayStation Network community, [Register or Login to view links] reports that Sony's premium video offerings will mimic Microsoft's Live Anywhere philosophy... a single user ID and password will work across all Sony products and services.

Additionally, the PSN virtual wallet can be used universally across Sony's services.

To quote: "To help facilitate the cross-proliferation of content across Sony's multiple devices, Hirai also announced the creation of a new division within Sony: the not-very-creatively named Sony Network Entertainment, Inc.

With this new initiative, expect the PSN logo to be far more ubiquitous than ever before."

Video: Alien Zombie Death Coming Soon to PSP via PSN

100°
259w ago - The Art & Design at PomPom Games Michael Michael (yes, that's his real name!) has revealed today alongside a video that Alien Zombie Death is coming soon to PSP via PlayStation Network.

To quote: We are PomPom games. Independent developer of some of the finest retro-yet-modern-kind-of videogames since a very long time ago. We are just 2 guys (silly name and Miles Visman) with some help from a rather excellent sound dude, James Drabble.

PomPom games are but a whisker away for their latest slice of RSI inducing, finger twisting, brow soaking shoot-em-up action called... ALIEN ZOMBIE DEATH on PSP minis.

We were kind of digging this new-ish breed of game : the survival shooter, and wanted to have a go. We have also had a bit of a longing for doing something platform-y ( when I say we, I mean me throwing a strop at Miles, when I don't get my way ) so "we" concocted this scenario:-

"Somewhere far far away in a random solar system, a lone space man dies... horribly. Take control of said fateful space man as he battles to his end against the dreaded Alien Zombies! Using a standard laser gun and a few pickups along the way, make sure you take at as many of those Alien Zombie suckers before they take you down. It's that simple. It's Alien Zombie Death."

Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond Comes to PSN This Week

100°
260w ago - Today Eric Peterson, President and CEO of Vicious Cycle Software, has announced that Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond is coming to PSN this week.

To quote: Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond chronicles the latest adventures of Matt Hazard, internationally renowned video game action hero and star of the 2009 blockbuster next-gen hit, Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard*.

In Blood Bath and Beyond, Matt returns to his side-scrolling roots to track down his arch-enemy, General Neutronov, who has travelled back in time and kidnapped the 8-bit version of Matt. The Russian general plans to destroy Matt's earlier self so that Neutronov will never suffer the humiliating defeats that the hero has dealt him over the years.

This tongue-in-cheek journey through Matt's history takes the player on a tour of the "classic" titles released by Marathon Software, the company that put Matt Hazard on the map.

Matt takes on a wide range of enemies–from pirates to penguins; lighthouses to laser-wielding astronauts; Mounties to mechanical rhinos–as he peruses the parody-laden landscapes of games that never were.

Blood Bath and Beyond is available for download on the PlayStation Network for $14.99 starting on January 7, 2010.

* Not actually a blockbuster hit....

50°
261w ago - PlayStation Network Executive Producer Kevin Furuichi has shared a video on the PS Blog today showcasing the PULSE PSN Edition for December 22, 2009.

To quote: For those of you wondering what happened to last week's edition of PULSE, it's available today as part of the final PlayStation Store publish of the decade. We delayed the usual Thursday release so we could get you the latest news just before the holidays.

Join Christina Lee for a look at the exclusive Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker PSP demo as well as the first Dante's Inferno demo that's hitting the PS3. The staff also put together 10 Gotta See Movies from 2009 that are still available from PlayStation Store and the list has some surprises. Remember, it's the most wonderful time of the year, right?

You also don't want to miss the Top 10 Game Downloads for 2009. Actually, no surprises, except for the order in the list.

We've had a terrific year bringing you this biweekly program. Hard to believe a year has gone by since PULSE made it's premiere on PlayStation Network. I mean, it feels like we just recovered from our E3 coverage! Thanks for supporting the show and we look forward to an exciting 2010.
