Treyarch Warns PSN & XBL Users on Hacking / Console Modding

400°
264w ago - Today Treyarch has given a serious warning to all Sony PSN and Microsoft XBox Live would-be hackers and console modders... if you are caught, you'll be banned from all of their online services.

To quote: Our most recent TU addressed a number of issues that arose as a result of modders hacking their console and ultimately disrupting the online experience for everybody else.

In light of these recent events, I'd like to make something abundantly clear to the community: Treyarch has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards console hackers / modders. We are actively working with our console partners (Microsoft and Sony) to take action against all proven offenders, up to and including a complete ban from all of their online services.

Our number one priority is to protect the experience of our online gaming community (most of you reading this message), and the efforts of console hackers / modders directly target the community in a negative way.

We understand that a primary motivation in hacking / modding is to bring something "fresh" or "new" to the game. That is why the PC platform has a full suite of Mapping / Modding tools, along with plenty of documentation to go along with it.

264w ago - Today GamesIndustry.biz (linked above) is reporting news that digital developers are being offered the opportunity to compete for grants of 10,000 GBP to create content for Sony's PlayStation Network.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe will host a three-day pitching event in October, in conjunction with Pixel-Lab and Northwest Vision, with successful companies awarded the grant, executive production and mentoring with SCEE, as well as the chance to take the project further and pitch to XDev Studio Europe.

To quote: "It was reassuring to see a commitment of public funding like this from Northwest Vision & Media and it's clearly helped the teams involved strengthen their skills in many areas," offered Phil Gaskell, senior producer at XDev Studio Europe. "I'm confident we'll be taking some of the ideas generated through this initiative to market."

Toby Barnes, managing director of Pixel-Lab added: "We were really pleased with the final quality of the pitches last year, the teams had made huge leaps in terms of understanding the commissioning process, their audiences, and what was expected of them.

We are really looking forward to this year's new entrants and are expecting the bar to be even higher."

264w ago - Update: Although not definitive, [Register or Login to view links] reports that Capcom's Chris Kramer stated the games will be out "within the next three months."

A few months ago it was first reported that Capcom classics were making their way to Sony's PlayStation Network.

Today the green flag was given to three more, specifically, the [Register or Login to view links] has now rated Dino Crisis, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for the PS3.

However, no release dates have been given at this time.

No dates yet, of course, but presumably we'll see these on our Store sooner rather than later."
