Savage Moon Coming to PlayStation 3 via PSN Tomorrow

250°
272w ago - Today Fluffy Logic Producer Ana Kronschnabl shared some background on Savage Moon, which is due for release on the PlayStation Network store tomorrow as follows:

For the last few months we've been hard at work on our take on the Tower Defense genre. Although here in the UK we spell it 'defence' ;-).

If you've not played any tower defence games, you're missing out. They are a great off-shoot of real-time strategy games where the player can only build static defences and the enemy is the one on the move. Our art director, Stuart, introduced us to a few of the games on the net and needless to say, work around the office dropped to zero as we got hooked.

At the time we had been given a couple of PS3 development kits by Sony to play around with and we thought, "Wow, we'd love to do our own take on this." We threw around a few ideas then went up to see Sony and surprisingly enough, it turned out that they had been thinking exactly the same thing.

Thus Savage Moon, our first game for the PS3, was born. It is due for release on the PlayStation Network store this week for $9.99...we're very excited.

First off we wanted to give the game a bit of a story. All the tower...

Capcom: No Online Play for Bionic Commando: Rearmed on PSN

100°
272w ago - Capcom producer Ben Judd shared his opinion on Bionic Commando: Rearmed with Gamasutra recently, stating that excluding online play from Rearmed was "the right choice."

To quote: "After seeing the large amount of headaches, additional production time and cost that comes with adding online, I'm glad we made the choice not to include it."

He noted that many digitally distributed games are plagued with online problems and that "additional sales would not have been equivalent to the additional pains" needed to add online play to the game.

While we certainly have to agree that digitally distributed games have their share of online problems - something any XBLA user can tell you - we can't help but imagine the glories online play could have brought to Bionic Commando: Rearmed.

Free Bruce Springsteen Guitar Hero World Tour Pack Hits PSN

50°
273w ago - RedOctane/Activision Producer Chuck Park announced some good news for Guitar Hero World Tour players as follows today:

This coming Tuesday, January 27 (yes, you read that correctly, Tuesday), we're all VERY proud to welcome Bruce Springsteen to the Guitar Hero World Tour family, as you'll be able to download the Bruce Springsteen Track Pack for FREE from the PlayStation Store.

The Track Pack has two great songs, the classic anthem "Born to Run" (if you don't know, go ask Dad about it and watch him reminisce about his younger days as he begins to sing at the top of his lungs) and Bruce's new single "My Lucky Day". We're giving this to you on a Tuesday, as it coincides with the release of Bruce's new album "Working On A Dream".

Bruce has been pretty busy lately, as he won a Golden Globe, performed at the Inaugural Celebration, is releasing a new album AND will perform at halftime of the Big Game in Tampa on February 1. So do yourself a favor and add these songs to your ever-growing Guitar Hero World Tour set lists! We hope you enjoy playing these songs as much as we enjoyed delivering them to you.

One last note about the Track Pack. It's FREE for a limited time only. You have from Tuesday, January 27 - Wednesday, February 4 to download it for...

Flower for PSN Priced, Has Seven 'Not All Sunny' Levels

50°
273w ago - In a press demonstration today, thatgamecompany co-founder Jenova Chen gave us a sneak peek at the latter half of Flower, addressing some of our curiosities, while adding a few new mysteries.

Back in December, we got to play through the first three levels of the PSN title, which has you flying around in the dreams of flowers, collecting petals and beautifying the environment. You can read our impressions here and watch us talk about it on The 1UP Show.

But, like many of you out there, we were curious what came next - the first two levels are quite similar in nature, with the third just hinting at things to come. Will Flower have more than four levels? Do you get to do more than fly around in the sunshine? Now we know the answer.

Flower will have seven levels, which Chen estimates will take first-time players approximately two to three hours to play through - a length deliberately chosen to mimic the film-watching experience, complete with the emotional ups, downs, and eventual climax. At the demo, all levels were present, except for the last. And as a bit of a teaser, Chen let us in on a twist: The final level won't be a flower.

The sixth level, perhaps unsurprisingly,...
