Rainbow Moon: PSN-Exclusive Strategy RPG coming in 2012

200°
128w ago - SideQuest Studios CEO Marcus Pukropski has announced today that PSN-exclusive strategy RPG Rainbow Moon is coming in 2012.

To quote: Today I am telling you about what we've been working on with our publishing partner eastasiasoft during roughly the last year and a half.

No, it's not another shooter, but it's once again a very classical genre that we are bringing back to life on the PlayStation 3 in 2012.

Our latest creation is titled Rainbow Moon. It's a strategy role-playing game (or, for short, "SRPG" with a strong emphasis on exploration, character development and turn-based battles. This genre is one of my personal favorites that I enjoyed playing most when I was growing up (and still enjoy a lot now as far as time allows).

I can promise you that Rainbow Moon is going to be massive, and it's got all the features that you want from a traditional RPG. First of all, it will take you around 30 hours just to play through the main story mode, but that's far from all what the game has to offer. Your playtime can be extended to 100 hours or longer if you want to complete all side quests and achieve full character development.

What else can you expect from Rainbow Moon? A classic isometric open world,...

Video: PixelJunk Sidescroller Coming to PSN on October 25th

200°
130w ago - Q-Games Ltd President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has announced today alongside a video that PixelJunk Sidescroller is coming to PSN on October 25th with details below.

To quote: PixelJunk SideScroller is not far from your hands! Yes, it has kind of crept up upon us, but the release date is 1st of November October 25th in North America.

I really can't emphasize enough how really, really good, old-school fun SideScroller has turned out to be. I'm sure some of you have played the "bonus" stage in PixelJunk Shooter 2 called "The Road to Dawn", well that is what gave us the urge to make an entire side scrolling shoot-em-up game!

Back in the day I used to love games such as R-Type and Darius, and going even further back there were games such as Scramble and Defender that inspired me as a child.

So... we decided to dip our toes in and see what PixelJunk could bring to the side-scroller world.

We used the same engine as for the two Shooter titles, but the game itself is entirely different. To begin with this is a single-stick controlled game rather than the dual-stick control we had in Shooter, which makes it even more addictive and easy...

Video: Shank 2 Coming to PSN with Sharper Graphics, New Co-Op

300°
132w ago - Today Klei Co-Founder Jamie Cheng has announced that Shank 2 will be coming to PSN complete with sharper graphics and new co-op functionality.

To quote: I'm here to talk a bit about our newest PSN title – Shank 2! Honestly, it's been a fantastic journey. We bet everything on the first game, and the fans both supported us and gave us meaningful feedback on the game.

The encouragement has not only allowed us to survive and thrive, but gave us a huge reason to take a look at the game and make big improvements. I'm here to talk a bit about what we've been working on.

Let's start with the art. As you may know, our entire art team consists of professional animators and painters from the 2D animation industry, and again Jeff Agala directed the visuals. The goal here was to blow away our previous fidelity and set a new bar for ourselves.

To do that, we doubled the resolution of all the source character art to push the graphic novel style, adding a huge amount of extra detail to the environment and even doubling the amount of animation in the game.

We've also worked hard on making environments are far more interactive – collapsing ceilings, crumbling floors, fiery environments, barrels and other large objects that...
