Award-Winning Adventure Proteus is Coming to PS3 and PS Vita

100°
63w ago - Curve Studios PR and Marketing Manager Rob Clarke revealed today that award-winning adventure Proteus is coming to both PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: The team here at Curve takes great pleasure in announcing that Ed Key and David Kanaga's award winning PC indie game, Proteus, will be arriving on both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita this autumn.

A lot of games get called 'unique', but we think there's honestly nothing quite like Proteus. It's a game all about exploration, mystery, color and sound. Played in first person and set on an uninhabited island, it's all about getting immersed in a dreamlike world.

Everything in Proteus is procedurally generated, which means the game is different each time you play. The game plays through all four seasons before the end, and it's nearly impossible to see everything in the game with one play through.

The music and sounds in the game are what really make it special though, and everything you encounter as you explore has its own musical signature, so just like the island, the music changes depending on where you choose to go.

Here at Curve we've been working with Ed to make the PS Vita and PS3 versions even better than the original, and over the next few months we're going to have more information on how we're using the...

Seaven Studio Announces Ethan: Meteor Hunter is Coming to PSN

50°
63w ago - Seaven Studio Co-founder Olivier Penot announced today that Ethan: Meteor Hunter is coming soon to PSN.

Below are the details, to quote: Hello! We are Seaven Studio, a brand new indie studio based in Lille, north of France. We are seven former employees of Hydravision (who developed Obscure 1&2 and Alone in the Dark), which closed down back in September last year.

We were part of a team working on a new project called Ethan: Meteor Hunter when Hydravision closed down, so we decided to start a new studio looking to self-fund and self-publish our own projects. We bought the Ethan IP and got to work!

About our first game, then. You are Ethan, a little rodent that was hit by meteor fragments. These fragments gave him the power to move objects around and freeze time. Add physics rules and elements with different properties and you get an exciting new 2.5D puzzle-platformer! Plus, it's French, so how can you not love it?

Ethan can interact with the environment, burn wooden blocks, use electric charges to activate interrupters, doors or mechanisms, and hover when using air vents.

There are multiple ways to solve the puzzles, which blend arcade action and reflection. Progression through levels isn't linear - there are multiple challenges in each stage - and Ethan...

Sony Announces Puppeteer Demo is Coming Soon to PlayStation 3

50°
64w ago - Today Sony Worldwide Studios Art Director Gavin Moore announced that a Puppeteer demo is coming soon to PlayStation 3 fans.

To quote: We're getting closer and closer to the release of Puppeteer! In preparation for release, I'm happy to announce that a playable demo demonstrating the essence of Puppeteer's gameplay will be made available in Europe prior to launch.

We plan on packing loads of content into the demo, and we hope it will give you a great idea of how the finished game will feel when it hits PlayStation 3 on 11th September.

While we're on the topic of demos, maybe some of you have heard of Puppeteer's 'Rehearsal Edition', which releases on Japan's PlayStation Store this week.

The Rehearsal Edition is not a traditional game demo but rather a uniquely regional way to introduce the world of Puppeteer.

The brief interactive stage specially designed for this concept gives Japanese gamers a peak behind the curtain at the cast of Puppeteer as they prepare for the 'big show'. The characters can be seen busily rehearsing while the crew put together the elaborate set pieces to be used in the bunraku - or 'puppet theatre' - that serves as the game's setting.

In order to let Japanese players fully soak in the atmosphere,...

Double Eleven: PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD Coming to PS Vita

50°
64w ago - Double Eleven Limited Chief Operating Officer Mark South announced today that PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD is coming to PS Vita.

Below are the details, to quote: Double Eleven, Ltd been entrusted with the keys to the kingdom for classic series such as LittleBigPlanet and Limbo.

For us, PixelJunk Monsters sits alongside those hallowed classics. In designing PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD for PS Vita, we wanted to take the fabulous PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe and make it an even better experience.

We worked closely with Q-Games to get it right, and then chose the name "Ultimate HD" at the end of development. We hope that's what we have created!

We've been big fans of Monsters and the other PixelJunk games for some time; the sharp, colorful graphics and addictive gameplay had us hooked. Monsters is one of those games that is super casual, but incredibly difficult at the same time: a quality which made us - and many others - keep coming back for more.

The tower defense premise is very familiar, but Monsters' effortless execution sets it apart from other games in the genre. We realized that if Monsters were remade today, it would still stand out amongst other games in the genre.

So we set out to make the definitive version of PixelJunk Monsters...
