16 PS3 Tricks Sony Doesn't Tell You!

500°
293w ago - Months ago TechRadar released a list of 10 tricks that Sony hasn't revealed to no one. Well guess what, that's not all! There are now 16 PS3 tricks that Sony hasn't mentioned to anyone. Are there still more secrets that Sony is trying to hide from us. We will find out soon...

(1) Play games from any country
Harbouring a desire to play Super Gaiden Ninja XI? Now you can. In fact, you can handily play any PS3 game from any country. On holiday in the States and spot the latest release at a bargain dollar-to-pound price? Help yourself. So far, at least, PS3 games aren't being region coded. That said PS2 and PS1 games are so you can't play a US title on a Euro console.

And let's not forget that Blu-ray movies are region-coded so the barriers aren't completely down yet.

(2) The secret video reset
One of the most annoying aspects of the PS3 are its video settings. Take it up to the bedroom portable or round to a friend's house and there's a good chance that you won't be able to see anything on screen because your 'new' TV is running at a different resolution or using a different cable connection. And - because you can't see anything - you can't change it.

Sony introduces pricy BD-S5000ES Blu-ray Player at CEDIA Show

50°
293w ago - It's appears the pricy Pioneer BDP-09FD now has some competition from Sony.

Sony surprised the industry at the CEDIA consumer electronics show in Denver by introducing expensive new Blu-ray players instead of cheaper ones. One of the new models is the BDP-S5000ES which will be offered worldwide in December for $2,000.

Andy Parsons, senior VP of product planning at Pioneer Home Entertainment Group and U.S. chairman of the Blu-ray Disc Assn. Promotions Committee, said that "Blu-ray player sales were 50% ahead of total 2007 sales."

Parsons also countered reports that said sales weren't meeting expectations, and said that any problems in meeting expectations were due to supply shortages.

PRESS RELEASE: RECYCLED PLAYSTATIONS BECOME BRITISH DESIGNER CHAIRS

London-based Pli Design Ltd (http://www.plidesign.co.uk) is launching its latest eco-friendly product, a chair made from 100% recycled games consoles. The launch takes place on Wednesday September 10, 2008 in London, at the HQ of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.

The British manufactured 'Reee® chair' has a plastic seat and back made entirely from recycled PlayStation®2 computer games consoles*. Unlike most recycled plastics, which come from a variety of sources, the plastic in the Reee chair is entirely from a single source, making it the first of its kind in the country.

The Reee chair - which is available for the contract, education and domestic markets - was conceived at the annual Eden Project Suppliers conference in Cornwall, where the Pli team discussed the possibilities for reusing high-quality plastic from waste electronics products with other manufacturers, including Sony Computer Entertainment.

Each chair uses 2.4 kg of recycled plastic and the chair parts are designed to be disassembled at the end of their life and recycled again and again. The production of recycled plastic requires a fraction of the energy used for 'virgin' plastic that comes straight from...

Sony Bravia goes Wireless with EX1

50°
294w ago - The latest Sony Bravia dares to go where no other LCD television has been able to go before; beyond the prototype realm of wireless high-definition connectivity and into your living room.

It seems that the latest and greatest in quality televisions have entered a stage where technology moves sideways and not forwards in leaps and bounds. The jump from analog to digital television was a huge step in quality, but now that the Blu-ray, 1080p, world of tomorrow is in fact here today the focus in performance enhancements has shifted from a goal of 'more real than life' sensory quality to refining the peripherals of existing television technology.

Enter the Sony Bravia EX1. At the Berlin hosted IFA 2008, Sony announced the latest addition to the Bravia family that has the pioneering feature of integrated high-definition wireless connectivity. Given the advancements in wireless transfer rates, it is easy to see the EX1 as a logical move towards the right, wireless direction. Similar wireless products have been announced before, but Sony's latest Bravia model is the first to make it out of the prototype stage.

The EX1 features an in-built wireless transmitter that beams wireless HD images during runtime; the result being one less HDMI cable to worry about. The EX1 will be offered in 40-inch,...
