Video: DriveClub on PlayStation 4 - PS4 Release Date is Revealed

50°
12w ago - Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida revealed the official DriveClub on PlayStation 4 video and PS4 release date below today.

To quote: Hi all. It's a big day for us at Worldwide Studios as we are now in a position to announce a launch date for the much anticipated PS4 exclusive title from Evolution Studios - DRIVECLUB.

The team have been working relentlessly on the game and have captured a new video to showcase just how impressive it's currently looking. I absolutely loved it, so please watch through to find out the date.

We planned for the game to be ready for early 2014 and are committed to delivering on our ambitious promise of creating a truly innovative, socially connected racing game.

The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What DRIVECLUB offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you're waiting for.

In addition to the new date, we are also very pleased to announce that as of February 2014, Paul Rustchynsky - better known as Rushy - has been at the helm of DRIVECLUB as Game Director. We appreciate the announcement...

Sony on The Story Behind InFamous Second Son's Photo Mode

50°
12w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton is here with the story behind InFamous Second Son's photo mode today!

To quote: If you've been keeping even half an eye on gaming-related forums, blogs and social feeds over the last week or two you will surely have seen the stunning fruits of inFAMOUS Second Son's brilliant Photo Mode, which developer Sucker Punch added to the game via an update earlier this month.

It's fair to say the new feature has surpassed everyone's expectations and taken off in a big, big way - there are some absolutely incredible images out there, all created by you, the gamers.

So, to find out a little more about how it came to be and what the studio is making of its reception, we caught up with the man behind Photo Mode, Sucker Punch Senior Software Engineer Matt Durasoff.

How exactly did Photo Mode come to be? Was it something you planned early on, or was it more spur-of-the-moment?

Matt Durasoff: There's nothing novel about setting up shiny screen shots (say that ten times fast), but it was always something we did internally. For Second Son, the motivation for adding this feature came completely from the fans.

Right out of the gate, people were sharing awesome shots, without any special tools. Giving people a way to hide...

Destiny on PS4: First PlayStation 4 Hands-on Details Revealed

50°
12w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Sid Shuman went hands-on today with Destiny on PS4, revealing the first PlayStation 4 details below.

To quote: Having spend several hours with a pre-release version of Destiny on PS4, my sense is that Bungie's vision is no less than a complete rethink of how multiplayer shooters work.

Destiny is a deconstruction and reconstruction of a genre that has languished in sterile matchmaking lobbies for far too long.

If you don't have a particular agenda, Patrol is a good place to start. The Patrol structure is deliberately relaxed and freewheeling, with locations covering a large swath of exterior and interior spaces.

You can hunt for beacons to trigger side missions, or just blast enemies, collect loot, and explore at your own pace. Patrol missions seem to vary considerably, tasking you with everything from collecting uranium to interrupting mining operations and assassinating enemy leaders.

From time to time you'll cross paths with other Patrol players, sometimes in the form of dynamic "social events" that pit you against a bigger challenge.

It's always optional: Tag along with the new guy, or hop...

12w ago - Bungie Community Manager DeeJ unveiled a new Destiny PS4 video trailer today inviting PlayStation 4 fans to witness a strike.

To quote: Hey there, PlayStation Nation. I'm here from Bungie, to offer you another look into the world of Destiny. Very soon, you'll have a chance to take your first steps into that world as a Guardian of the last safe city on Earth. We have a grand adventure planned for you, and we're thrilled to be sharing another piece of it.

For now, check out just one of the ways you'll be to enjoy our upcoming shooter. This is a Strike - a cooperative scenario that sends a Fireteam on a dangerous mission to defeat hostile aliens and reap sweet rewards. See the action through the eyes of three of our heroes.

Very recently, we welcomed some of our friends at PlayStation to enjoy this very mission with us. We're excited to hear what they have to say.

And, we're excited to hear what you have to say as well. At the end of this trailer, you'll learn about the chapter in the story that leads to you experiencing Destiny for yourself.

Video: PS4 Music Player App Revealed by Shuhei Yoshida's PSN Profile

100°
13w ago - Following the rumors that MP3 playback is coming soon to the PlayStation 4, today what may be a Sony PS4 Music Player application was revealed by Shuhei Yoshida's PSN Profile!

To quote: There have been rumors of MP3 playback support coming to the PS4 with a future update, and something found by one of our readers that snooped on Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida's PSN profile definitely seems to add solidity to those rumors:

Apparently Yoshida-san ran a "Music Player Demo" app yesterday, and it left very visible tracks on his PSN profile, as you can see in the pictures at the bottom of the post:

Of course we don't have clear information on what the "Music Player" entails, or if it'll really play MP3 files, but now we know that it exists, and it's being tested internally at Sony Computer Entertainment.

It's worth mentioning that normally this kind of unannounced app is kept hidden from profiles, but apparently someone forgot to flip that switch.

We'll have to stand by and see if the app will be announced any time soon, or if it'll make it in the upcoming 1.7 firmware update.
