Sony: Xi is Growing in PlayStation Home for PS3 Users!

50°
295w ago - Yesterday we reported on some PlayStation Home Alpha Zone 2 Images that were leaked, and today some official details are available from PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star, as follows:

Xi - the world's first console-based ARG, exclusive to PlayStation Home - just got bigger. The eagerly-awaited second Alpha Zone has opened up today, and there's plenty of fun stuff awaiting you. Can you escape the Fish Tanks of Good & Evil...?

There are a few numbered screens on the walls, promising more games and puzzles to come. The yin-yang symbol on the floor suggests there's a "light'n'dark, good'n'evil" theme to this place. But is everything as black and white as it seems? We're guessing not.

Given that this game has already included a giant jigsaw puzzle on billboards across Europe, a shiatsu massage game, flying cows, and a pair of classic text adventures, we're not quite sure what to expect next.

If you want to find out for yourself, fire up PlayStation Home and head for the Xi logo tagged on the wall in Central Plaza.

Top Five Ways Microsoft's XBox 360 Has Beaten Sony's PS3

550°
295w ago - The war to win the hard-core gamer has been fought bitterly between two giants - Sony the veteran and Microsoft the young upstart. The kid took its beating the first generation.

Sony laughed at him for having the nerve and audacity to compete with the champion. The kid knew it was bested, but he licked his wounds and trained harder. He came back a man, a muscled machine, and showed the old-timer he deserved to be crowned the title.

This is his story:

5) Third Party Exclusives
Exclusives will make and break a console platform. Take the GameCube for example. With high licensing fees and inadequate support, third party software were put out there to die and so the third party support dried up too. Consequently GameCube died shortly after.

On the flip-side, PS2 won the console war on the strength of its third party support. Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and Tekken were all system-selling games for PS2. Now how many of those franchises has Sony been able to retain for the PS3? Looks like only Metal Gear.

Microsoft made a heavy investment to lure third party developers into the 360 camp. By launching their system a year ahead of PS3, the 360 was able to give developers more time to acclimate to an already familiar-looking platform architecture....

Sony to Make an 'Electrifying Announcement' on April 27, 2009

100°
296w ago - Update: It looks like inFamous (coming May 27th) could come with an online BETA code of some sort for Uncharted 2's unannounced (and unconfirmed) multiplayer mode. We'll find out soon enough!

After jumping onto Sony's [Register or Login to view links] website, I noticed that they have a small teaser hinting something big is on the way.

They show pictures of inFAMOUS and Uncharted 2 in the short clip.

Are there new demos for these highly anticipated titles on the way? Or something bigger?

Only time will tell for sure, but feel free to speculate below in the comments.

EA Sports Complex Now Live in Sony's PlayStation Home

200°
296w ago - Here we go, from PlayStation Home Online Community Specialist Locust_Star via PlayStation Blog today:

The day has finally come! Phase one of the EA SPORTS Complex has been unleashed and it is high time that all of you sports fanatics log in to PlayStation Home, explore this hugely interactive space, try your hand at the available mini-games, and check out all the teasers and trailers that await your prying eyes.

Out of the proverbial box, [Register or Login to view links] has two casual multiplayer mini-games for you to challenge your friends to: A whole floor of poker tables and the new EA SPORTS Racing game.

The former allows for up to 8 players per table to indulge in high stakes tournament-style Texas Hold 'Em and the latter lets you put the pedal to the metal and compete for the best time against 3 other users in a formula-style race.

The Complex - much like the PlayStation Home platform - will evolve over time. Currently scheduled updates include the EA SPORTS Golf mini-game (where users can test their stick skills at an indoor driving range) leaderboards, poker bracelets and a rewards system. As new titles are announced, content within the space and additional game-specific achievement rewards will be added.
