Soulcalibur Makes its Portable Debut on Sony's PSP Console

50°
294w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Specialist Chris Morell confirms the news today that Soulcalibur will indeed be making its portable debut on Sony's PSP console.

To quote: Soulcalibur is officially coming to the PSP this summer. Called Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, this marks the series' first foray into handheld consoles... and of course, what better place to debut than the PSP.

Yesterday, Namco Bandai invited us to San Francisco for the unveiling, where a demo of Broken Destiny proved that it is already looking graphically impressive on the PSP. While Namco is remaining relatively tight-lipped on specifics for the time being, I fired off a few questions to Director Noriyuki Hiyama.

Unfortunately we were shooting in a loud room speaking through a translator, but I think you'll get the point about the new characters, multiplayer and the possibility of secret content.

Check out the vid for his responses. And drop us a note with your burning questions, as we'll most likely be getting more time with the game/team at E3 in June!

Sony Ditches UMD, Classic Titles to See Digital Re-Release

200°
294w ago - Sony's rumored plans for a new PSP dubbed the PSP Go! may also usher in a new wave of games becoming digital downloads for the device.

To quote: That includes, allegedly, the long-awaited arrival of Gran Turismo Mobile.

According to 1UP's report on the PSP-4000/PSP Go!, Sony will be releasing about 100 new and classic PSP games in downloadable form on the PlayStation Store when the new PSP launches. 1UP even writes that Polyphony Digital's Gran Turismo Mobile is "said to be one of the premier launch titles."

Announced in 2004, there's been little mention of the portable racing simulator, with Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi saying the title was still "moving forward" last November.

With two alleged storage options available (8GB and 16GB), future PSP owners may have to budget their internal storage space wisely, unless Sony has something clever planned for managing all those downloads.

1UP says it expects Sony to announce the new hardware at E3, just mere weeks away. Keep an eye peeled.

MAG Screenshots & PS3 Trailer Released from Sony Gamer's Day

100°
294w ago - Sony has [Register or Login to view links] a bunch of new MAG (Massive Action Game), the upcoming 256 player PS3 exclusive, screens at their Gamer's Day.

The graphics seem rather average but the game is still deep in development and, due to the huge map and battle sizes, mediocre graphics are not surprising.

However, the first MAG gameplay trailer from Sony Gamer's Day 2009 for PS3 is also available.

So those who think the screens look bad, perhaps think again.

Confirmed: Sony's New PlayStation Portable is the PSP Go!

250°
294w ago - Today 1UP (linked above) has published a report on the new PSP, indicating that the new, UMD-less hardware will ship this Fall in Japan and North America, with Sony bringing 100 PSP titles to the PlayStation Store.

Below is also also has an artists' rendition of what the new PSP Go! may look like.

To quote: Sources confirm the next PSP will gain an internal flash drive, ditch UMD, and nix the rumored second analog nub.

Rumors of a major PSP hardware redesign have repeatedly bubbled to the surface over the last several months - some claiming the removal of the system's UMD disc drive, and others pointing to a second analog stick and sliding screen.

According to sources directly involved with the new system, we have learned that Sony will quell those rumors by unveiling their revamped PSP at this year's E3 conference in June.

Many have speculated that the update would be called either the PSP 2 or PSP-4000, but our sources claim Sony will forgo a numerical moniker in favor of a subtitle.

We've heard various rumored code names for the project (including PSP Slide, PSP Flip, and PSP Go!), but given that Sony has introduced the Go! brand of add-ons...
