From his blog (linked above): The completely remade 3D edition of UFO Racer is finally on Wii! The Wii port even features motion controls like it did in the 2D version that preceded this.

Along with porting it I’ve made a few improvements. The high score is saved every time you finish a lap, there is now on screen text telling you what your time was from the previous lap, there have been slight changes to the track geometry and texture, the track is now loaded from an external file (it was previously hard coded into the game) and the font used for on screen text...

From his blog, to quote: Recycle today for a better tomorrow! Cubicle Shooter City is a top down dual stick shooter that uses the city generator I made for Hero City 2 and the character models from Cubicle Shooter.

To be honest I'm not very happy with how it turned out. It performs poorly and I think it looks ugly. Does anyone want me to continue working on this? What would you like to see added or changed? There where a few things I was planning to do but now I think I'm most likely going to just abandon this.

In b4 someone gives me sht for making a new game and abandoning it to move on to other things instead of sinking 20 years of my life into perfecting its mediocrity.

I will definitely be working on UFO Racer this month, I'm also going to be posting source code soon and for any of you with a homebrew enabled Wii I'll be making Wii ports...

Video: Zen Studios Unveil KickBeat, PS Vita Music Combat Game

50°
118w ago - Zen Studios Creative Director Neil Sorens has officially introduced PS Vita music combat game KickBeat today alongside a debut video trailer below!

To quote: Hello, PlayStation fans! I'm very excited to tell you about our new game: KickBeat.

It's a music game; it just doesn't look like one. Check it out, and then after the jump I'll tell you about how it works and some of the development history.

Music games have a long tradition of innovation. From the peripheral-based games like Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution to controller-based ones like Frequency and Patapon, these games allow us to experience music in new and often unexpected ways.

KickBeat follows in the tradition of this type of music game. Although its beat-matching mechanic is not complex and will be familiar to fans of the music game genre, KickBeat does a couple things that make it different from anything else you've played...

And with publishers afraid to do anything except sequels to dance games, what better time than now to give the genre a kick in the pants?

Video: PSX Games Running on PS Vita Exploit Hack Demo

350°
119w ago - Last week we reported on how the PlayStation Suite SDK allows NES emulation on PS Vita, and today PlayStation Vita homebrew developer wololo reports that PSX games are now running PS Vita through an exploit hack as demonstrated in the video below.

To quote: A few weeks ago, an anonymous hacker released a dump of the flash0 from the PSP emulator running on the PS Vita. Although it brought nothing new for the end user, it was a verifiable proof that this hacker has access to a kernel exploit running on the PSP emulator.

This week, the same dev apparently got PS1 games to run on the Vita, as shown in the video below (thanks to the Z)

For those who wonder, I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the video, I wouldn't see any good reason for a guy who has proven he has a kernel PSP exploit to then produce a fake.

It is important to clarify that our forum member the Z is in contact with this anonymous developer, but they are (AFAIK)...

Video: Starhawk: How to Create an Epic Soundtrack for PS3

100°
122w ago - Starhawk Score Producer Matt Levine has posted up a video today spotlighting how to create an epic soundtrack for PS3 titles.

To quote: When [Register or Login to view links]'s President Dylan Jobe came to us to discuss the musical score for Starhawk, he had one of the best quotes I've ever heard from a game director:

"The music should not simulate combat; it should remind you what you're fighting for."

It is rare for so many things to come together on a project, but Starhawk has proven to be a perfect storm for creating a truly inspirational score. With a great story, a visionary developer, a brilliant composer, The Skywalker Symphony Orchestra, and a fantastic collection of soloists, we knew that this score would be something really special.

Chris Lennertz's score is bursting with character and memorable themes. Lyrical melodies soar through the orchestra, juxtaposed against feral percussion, gritty guitars, ethnic vocals and an eclectic mix of exotic wind instruments, each contributing to a score that is as memorable as it is unique.

At its core, the story is a classic western tale of two brothers torn apart by a tragic event....
