Sony to Offer Premium Themes via PlayStation Store Tomorrow

200°
303w ago - Per Ro Hernandez (PLAYSTATION Store Team) via PS Blog today:

The last time I posted it was regarding our special E3 section on the PlayStation Store. This time around I wanted to tell you about a new offering that you'll see tomorrow.

In addition to all the free themes you've already been getting and will continue to get on the PlayStation Store now, you'll have the option to upgrade and purchase premium themes to customize the look of your PS3's XMB.

We have linked up with a few partners, Smobile & Disruptive Media Publishers, to distribute premium themes from PlayStation Network.

They have content offerings that range in type from NCAA College licenses to beauties on the beach to original cartoons and anime. These themes were created specifically for the PS3 and have special backgrounds, XMB icons and, in some cases, sounds.

We have created a new "Premium Themes" section under Themes & Wallpapers for you to easily access this content. Also, for each theme, there is preview option that allows you to view images of the theme prior to making your decision.

We plan to offer approximately 6-10 new "Premium Themes" a month. So be sure to check back often to browse the newest in premium theme content.

Have a good rest...

Brand New Resistance 2 Images Arriving Tomorrow

50°
305w ago - JStevenson, one of the developers of Resistance 2 just confirmed at NeoGAF forums (linked above) that there would be new 'ingame' images of Resistance 2, which would be posted tomorrow.

Here is what he said:

"Hi everybody,

I'm exhausted, but we showed co-op, SP and MP... some folks played co-op for close to two hours, others played SP for that time, and others played MP. We went for over four hours and still had to kick people off.

Feedback was universally and exceptionally positive.

I'll be on a plane tomorrow when everything breaks. Rest assured i'll be around to answer questions when I get in.

And yes, all the screenshots you'll see tomorrow are real... "

JEOPARDY! coming to PSN Tomorrow, won't Feature Trophies

50°
307w ago - Per Shalom Mann (Senior Vice President of Development, SOE LA):

For 2008, we've been hard at work on a few games for the PLAYSTATION Network. Today, we are happy to announce that our first game, JEOPARDY! will be released for the PSN on Thursday, September 11, 2008.

JEOPARDY!, as you may know, is one of the most popular game shows on television and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this season. During my time here at SONY, I have had the good fortune to work on several games based on JEOPARDY!, including multiple versions for PCs and mobile phones, as well as skill-based and ITV versions. The PSN version, however, is easily the best looking and marks the first time we have been able to include real-time multiplayer capabilities.

While having multiplayer games was one of the key features we wanted to include, we also needed the game to look like the TV show. Everyone on our team worked on dual monitors, and it was common to see the TV show running on one monitor with the game engine or Maya on the other. Below are a couple of screen shots for comparison.

Some features of the game include:

- More than 2,500 clues and categories randomized for multiplayer games.
- Single-player games versus AI with three levels...
