194w ago - Alongside GOW3 patch update version 1.01, today a new God of War III PS3 glitch discovered allows you to start a game under any difficulty with all the weapons fully maxed out.
While the patch from SCE Santa Monica Studio doesn't fix the glitch yet, it reportedly weighs in at 5377 KB and fixes wireless controller issues many users had.
To activate the PlayStation 3 glitch, simply perform the following, to quote:
1. Unlock Combat Arena by beating the story once and then clearing the Challenges of Olympus mode.
2. In the Combat Arena option screen, set Kratos' Health to "Level 1" and difficulty to "Titan." Set up the Enemies option with creatures that can kill you quickly and start the battle.
3. In the Combat Arena, die five times in a row and the game will prompt you to switch to Easy mode. Select "No" to exit to the main menu.
4. You should hear two different music tracks playing over each other. Furthermore, the Maxed Out! trophy will be unlocked if you didn't already have it. From the main menu, select "New Game" and the difficulty of your choice to activate the glitch.
194w ago - Today United Front Games Designer Nick Letizia has shared a new ModNation Racers PS3 video dubbed 'Bringing The BOOM with Weapons' on the PlayStation Blog.
To quote: I'm here to chat about a key part of the title – weapons. Specifically, it's what we like to call the "Boom Box" weapon system.
Take a peek at our new trailer for a taste and read more below on how ModNation Racers will bring the BOOM on May 25.
Designing the Boom Box
When making ModNation Racers, we realized the need to advance the kart racing genre to the next level with a more physical driving model, but we also wanted to change how players use weapons.
Nothing feels better than taking an opponent down, but that feeling of euphoria is soon forgotten when you are on the receiving end of an attack.
Weapons can change the course of a race – it's one of the defining characteristics in this genre, but we wanted to reduce the frustration of unskilled randomness. We wanted to give players more options.
Strategy - Using the Ladder
In ModNation Racers you can choose to upgrade your weapons to make them more powerful, but that doesn't always come...
230w ago - Guerrilla Games Producer Sebastian Downie has detailed Killzone 2 Napalm & Cordite - The Weapons Pack for PS3 today on the PlayStation Blog.
To quote: Napalm & Cordite, the new downloadable content pack for Killzone 2, contains two exciting new multiplayer maps: Suljeva Cliffside, which takes place on the rocky outskirts of the Suljeva mining village; and Arctower Landing, which revisits the Arctower defense posts of Blood Meridian.
On top of that, the DLC pack allows you to wield a pair of weapons which were previously accessible only through the single player campaign!
Napalm: The VC1 Flamethrower Found in the Suljeva Cliffside map, the VC1 Flamethrower projects an ignited stream of flammable liquid at high pressure. Consisting of low-octane gasoline and an unidentified component indigenous to Helghan, this form of Napalm is extremely effective for clearing out enemy trenches and bunkers.
Cordite: The Boltgun 4400 Also known as "The Handyman", the semi-automatic Boltgun 4400 can be picked up in the Arctower Landing map. It uses Cordite to propel metal bolts at an extremely high velocity, often pinning its targets to walls and other objects. In addition, each round contains a time-delayed explosive...
243w ago - Recently GamePolitics expressed its consternation towards EA's Godfather II 'swag kit' containing Brass Knuckles.
The publisher then began a flurry of hush-hush phone calls to arrange the return of the weapons. EA declined to comment beyond expressing a desire to assist journalists in proper disposal of the items.
To quote: The game in question: Godfather II, a Grand Theft Auto-style adventure based on the famous movie. The offending item: a set of brass knuckles, mailed to video games journalists together with other goodies including a cigar, a silk handkerchief, and a book of matches.
But while it nicely complements the game's mafiosi theme, it also had the unfortunate side-effect of turning recipients of the mailing into criminals, as mere possession of brass knuckles is illegal in many states and can carry hefty penalties.
249w ago - While PlayStation 3's first party titles generally seem to be technically excellent, we've lost count of the amount of multi-format games that offer tangibly superior performance on Xbox 360.
However, the new Wanted: Weapons of Fate demo appears to be the exception that proves the rule - based on our analysis of the newly released demo code, it's superior on PS3 in almost every regard.
Let's not get carried away though - this game is no technical masterpiece on either system, rendering at 1120Ö640 on both platforms. However, of the two releases, only the PS3 game is v-locked, with the 360 code exhibiting a great deal of off-putting screen tear.
A short clip of slow-motion video showing that Wanted is indeed v-locked on PS3, with image quality compromised on Xbox 360 due to lack of v-lock.
The improvements on the PlayStation 3 code go beyond the simple matter of v-sync and extend into additional levels of bling added to the basic graphics. It's also notable in that despite being sub-HD, the upscaling on both platforms is pretty much like-for-like. PS3's software scaling solutions are usually less than optimal.
Overall, while the game itself isn't exactly triple-A material, it's...
