Sony Shares PlayStation Plus: February 2014 Video Game Preview

50°
52w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer shared a PlayStation Plus February 2014 video game preview below today, as follows:

Typically when you think of February, your mind goes to chocolates, flowers, and other lovey-dovey things. So we thought we'd celebrate this sappy month by scaring the bejesus out of you with Outlast on PS4.

We also have some great single-player PS3 experiences, including Metro: Last Light, a first-person shooter with an interesting take on morality, and Remember Me, a third-person action adventure where you'll take down an evil corporation by beating lots of people up with your own unique combos and messing with people's memories.

If you have a significant other, you might be able to rope him or her into some bank-robbing action with Payday 2 on PS3. After all, everyone likes stealing stuff. I mean, uh nevermind.

Finally, two PS Vita titles are joining the Instant Game Collection: Street Fighter X Tekken and ModNation Racers: Road Trip. Both include functionality with their respective PS3 versions. Fight against your friends in Street Fighter X Tekken no matter what platform they have, or download your previously made PS3 creations and use them in ModNation Racers: Road Trip.

Video: New PlayStation 3 Trailer for Rambo The Video Game

55w ago - Teyon Producer Piotr Latocha made available a new PlayStation 3 video trailer for Rambo The Video Game below today.

To quote: Hi everyone! Nice to be speaking with you on the PS Blog! We have been working hard over the last 18-months to bring Rambo fans the best and most authentic John Rambo gaming experience to date. One of the main challenges has been to squeeze three movies worth of classic Rambo action into one PlayStation 3 game.

Our goal for Rambo The Video Game has always been to allow players to lace-up Rambo's combat boots and head-out on an action-packed journey through the iconic action-sequences and story-arcs of First Blood, Rambo: First Blood Part II and Rambo III.

Authenticity to the classic motion-pictures has been key throughout the development process - and we were greatly assisted by our partners at Studiocanal who spent weeks searching their extensive archives to find original on-set recordings from John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) and Col. Samuel Trautman (Richard Crenna).

These recordings provided us with pristine vocal performances from the central characters - ensuring the game will be locked and loaded with all the classic motion-picture dialogue, rage-screams and exclamations fan's expect. Rambo The Video Game also includes extracts from the classic...

Video: Inserting PS3 Game Disc in PS4, PlayStation 4 Compatibility

500°
61w ago - Following up on Sony's Ultimate PS4 FAQ which states PS4 does not feature backward compatibility, today we have some pictures and a video of what exactly happens when inserting a PS3 game disc in the PlayStation 4 console.

To quote: With the arrival of the next generation of gaming hardware in the PS4 and XBox One, it's also clear that plenty of people will be holding onto their older consoles, and just as obvious that developers will continue to make games for these legacy systems for a long while yet.

But what if you're looking to blend the past and future by jamming a game from the last gen into one of your new consoles? We've got the answers.

As a test, we took a PS3 game - Mirror's Edge, obviously. Here it is. And oh so delicately, so as not to frighten anyway, inserted it into our shiny new PS4.

The menu pop-up was less than reassuring. And the result even less so.

This doesn't come as any surprise, backwards compatibility was never supposed to be a part of the PS4 ecosystem and at least in this case the console identifies the fact that it's a PS3 disc, unlike the XBox One which...

Video: Super Motherload on PS4: Exploring the Story & Game Modes

50°
64w ago - XGen Studios CEO and Founder Skye Boyes shared a video today on Super Motherload on PS4 which explores both the story and game modes below.

To quote: With just one week until Super Motherload launches alongside PS4, I'm eager to share with you PlayStation.Blog readers a bit about what makes Super Motherload tick, as well as show off a brand new video to set the scene.

Super Motherload is an arcade style digging adventure for one to four players, set on Mars in the retro future (And if that's not a mouthful enough, you're welcome to add "Soviet space race," "B movie sci-fi," and "mining puzzler" to the mix!).

Inspired by our original game, Motherload, we wanted to bring Mars mining to consoles and breathe some life back into the four-player, couch co-op style of gameplay that we love and miss so much. Online play can't hold a candle to a good, "reassuring" elbow to the ribs when your buddy goes in the wrong direction with no fuel to spare.

Super Motherload's visual charm is no doubt rooted in some of our favorite movies and tv shows of past decades, including Battlestar Galactica (the original), Buck Rogers, and Moon, to name a few. Those favorites, along with an '80s inspired soundtrack, all lend to...
