Sketch Fight v0.2 PS3 Homebrew Fighting Game is Released

171w ago - Today PlayS3ation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has updated his homebrew fighting game to Sketch Fight v0.2 with the changes detailed below.

To quote: I bought a second controller and with it I was able to figure out how to get the controls working properly. So that is what I fixed in this update to Sketch Fight (which for the uninformed is a two player fighting game). Nothing else has changed.

In the future I’ll now always be able to test multiplayer PS3 games before releasing them

PS3 controls:

  • Left directional button = Move left
  • Right directional button = Move right
  • Down directional button = Move crouch
  • X button = Jump
  • Square button = punch
  • Circle button = kick





 

They Do Not Die 2 v0.2 PS3 Homebrew Game is Released

175w ago - Following up on his initial release, today PlayStation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has released They Do Not Die 2 v0.2 for PS3 homebrew game fans.

To quote: Here is an update to They Do Not Die 2. I still haven't decided on a subtitle so if you have a suggestion then let me know.

What has changed:

  • The walls are solid.
  • The world is darker.
  • The zombies can hurt you and the other survivors.
  • When survivors die they turn into zombies.
  • On screen text shows how much health you have and how many zombies you have killed.
  • When you are hurt the camera zooms in.
  • When you die the game restarts (complete with a reset kill count and a newly generated city).
  • If you shoot a zombie it will then always consider you its target regardless of any other survivors that may be closer to it.
  • There are more zombies.
  • Everyone moves faster.
  • Buildings are now occasionally subdivided into multiple rooms.
  • The game pauses when the XMB is up.

The Unmapped Forest v0.2 PS3 Homebrew RPG is Released

175w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer ThatOtherDev has followed up on the initial release updating his PS3 homebrew RPG to The Unmapped Forest version 0.2.

To quote: Here is an updated build of The Unmapped Forest. At the moment it is still using placeholder graphics.

What has changed:

  • I've fixed the problem that caused it to freeze at a black screen when running at certain resolutions.
  • You have health and can be hurt.
  • You can now kill monsters.
  • You gain experience for killing monsters and you can level up infinitely (there is no level cap).
  • When you level up your maximum health is increased and you are fully healed.
  • When a monster (or its corpse) and its spawn point are both out of view then the monster is given full health and returned to its spawn point to wait for you to approach.
  • There are now five types of monsters.
  • The world has been expanded upon....

 

PS3MFW Builder v0.2 for PS3 Modified Firmware is Released

195w ago - Today the PS3 Modified Firmware homebrew application dubbed PS3MFW Builder has been updated to version 0.2, which now includes PlayStation 3 version spoofing, custom PS3 startup sounds, PS3 demo/shop to retail unit conversion support and the ability to install MFW on consoles with broken Blu-ray drives.

Magic PKG v0.2 Beta Arrives from Alegoria, Create PS3 PKG Files

196w ago - Over the weekend Spanish developer Alegoria from DemonHades (linked above) released Magic PKG v0.2 Beta, a PlayStation 3 homebrew application that allows users to create PS3 PKG files.

To quote, roughly translated: We inform this new application is being developed by Alegoria to easily create PKGs.

The idea is to convert the physical format games DG HG property to run directly from the HDD without having to undergo any manager games (Multimedia).

I discussed this in beta but from DHorg want to give our support to continue developing and improving this tool that looks great
