Video: Inside PS3 Super / Ultra Slim, Internal Disassembly Pictures

800°
103w ago - Following up on the PS3 super / ultra slim unboxing, first look, and HDD guide, today I've opened Sony's new console to see what is inside.

I've made a video of the disassembly, and some pictures of the new MSX-001 motherboard.

As you can see, there's a lot of modifications on this model: MB, BR drive, HDD emplacement and so on.

You can see the Blu-ray drive, very small than older BR drive.

PS: To remove the 2 glossy pieces, you just have to slide to the right like the PS3 fat.

According to pereb27, the new model features no RSX IHS (but still contains a Cell IHS) potentially meaning the end of the dreaded PS3 YLOD... it looks like Sony finally did something right.

Below are some PS3 super / ultra slim internal disassembly pictures and videos, as follows:

105w ago - Following up on our previous PS3 Slim Model (CECH-4000 / CECH-4001x) and PS3 Slim (CECH-4000 / CECH-4011x) articles, today European site GameReactor (linked above) reports of a new 12 GB PS3 Slim console coming in October, 2012 according to a German online retailer.

While pricing isn't confirmed yet, the upgraded flash memory PlayStation 3 consoles are expected to cost slightly more than the current generation models. Below are the details, to quote:

"A German online retailer confirmed via Facebook that in October a new PS3 with 12GB of flash memory will appear. More information on the console has not been provided.

It was speculated long ago that Sony would release a new version of the PS3. Sources are indicating that this PS3 will possibly have an even smaller box than the PS Slim, meaning a new ultra-slimline design is on the way. We're also expecting a hike in price, although no figures are available.

Sony's German PR chief Guido Alt commented that he knew nothing of the existence of such a console, when questioned by Gamereactor. But with Tokyo Game...

To quote: My name is Steve Hunt and I'm excited to talk about my PSN game [Register or Login to view links], which hits the PS3 this September. I wrote the game from scratch on my own, in my bedroom!
