New Uncharted 2: Among Thieves PS3 Details & Screen Available

100°
306w ago - Naughty Dog's Senior Manager of Marketing Communications Arne Meyer has shared some highlights of a recent media event at the Naughty Dog studios today as follows:

The very full day for our guests started off with getting them up to speed on UNCHARTED 2, covering background info on story, gameplay and technology such as:

•The historical mystery surrounding Marco Polo and his lost fleet, which serves as the foundation for our story.
• What's happened to Drake, since it's pretty obvious he's a bit scruffier, down on his luck and he's definitely running with way shadier people than before.
• Introducing everyone to Chloe Frazer, a sexy and impulsive Australian who is just this side of unpredictable and dangerous, not to mention Drake's new partner and romantic interest - can you blame him?
• Adding in what we're calling "action-stealth" to give you the choice to go in guns blazing or take out a few adversaries unnoticed before engaging the rest of them.
• Blending together our climbing and shooting into what we call "traversal gunplay" so you can now be in gun combat in the middle of climbing, swinging on a rope, hanging from a ledge or sign...you can shoot pretty much from anywhere, anytime you want.
• All the cool things the Naughty...

Here is a follow-up from Sony's Sr. Director of Promotions Ginger Kraus: Simply open up the Web browser on the PS3, and enter the following URL: www.youtube.com/tv (note: this link will not work from a PC or Mac, only from a PS3) and hit enter.

Now you're good to go! You'll notice a new YouTube interface that allows you to watch videos in full-screen. With enlarged text and simplified navigation, it makes watching YouTube on your TV as easy and intuitive as possible. Here's a helpful video that guides you through the process:

We're working closely with the YouTube team to make a more PlayStation-centric version of the YouTube TV Website page accessible from the lefthand menu bar (the YouTube button currently takes you to our branded channel on YouTube).

So stay tuned for that and in the meantime grab a cold one and sit back to enjoy your favorite videos on the big screen!

PSP-3000 Screen Issues Investigated, Poor Pixels Suspected

100°
321w ago - Logic-Sunrise has shared the results of their investigation into the screen issues with the latest edition PSP-3000 consoles.

They took out a microscope in order to test the difference between the screens as follows:

On PSP-3000 and newest PSP-3004, Everyone get a "bad screen" (scanline effect). But what happen on these screens ? in fact we get a microscope, and we tested differencies between old good screens, and newest bad screens.

In fact, after looking it 40X bigger, we can see all pixels. As you know, a pixel got 3 colors : blue, green and red. The biggest issue is the blue part of the pixel is not "light", but very dark, near black ... The or issue is that the blue part is horizon aligned, not vertical aligned, like old screens. It's why we have a scanline effect.

Also, we contacted SONY: No new console will be changed or screen replaced. We made a simple: gaming. It's VERY awful to play on these console, and we recommend everybody to bye old slim psp (psp-2004 for exemple) or wait for new screens on PSP 3000 and psp 3004 consoles.

We made 2 pictures, to compare.

Producer: Wii, PS2 Can't Handle Title Screen of Resident Evil 5

50°
321w ago - Even though Resident Evil 5 producer Juntake Uchi thinks the Wii is a "wonderful piece of hardware," he also believes that "even the title screen of this [Resident Evil 5] couldn't have been done on PS2 or Wii."

In some ways, this is an insult to the hardware of the Wii, but it's not exactly a hidden secret that Nintendo's system is vastly underpowered when compared to the 360 and PS3.

To quote: Kawata: First of all, and quite obviously, the graphics. Even the title screen of this couldn't have been done on PS2 or Wii. Online co-op as well; the number of enemies you can have on-screen at one time; destructible scenery, physics - we're using Havok this time.

We can do more complex stuff with AI; the concern I had in the very beginning is that sometimes an AI partner can become very frustrating. Now she handles fine and you can play through the game without her becoming a frustration.

When you see the new stuff you'll say "Oh my God, I can do this and this and this", but you'll probably get used to it quite quickly and then get into the story.

How complicated could the title screen of the game be that it would be impossible to duplicate on the Wii and PS2?
