117w ago - Today the Resistance 3 PS3 patch version 1.02 is available, and the developers at Insomniac Games have shared the update details, as follows:
Patch 1.02 for Resistance 3 is now available worldwide. We apologize for having two large patches this close to launch, but as you know, we've had a lot of issues to address from the Public Beta, and this has created the need for large patches. If you just want to play SP, you can ignore the patches (though there are some small fixes to the campaign) - but to go online, you will need to download them.
We wanted to detail some of the fixes in 1.02 for you. There are A LOT of fixes in this patch, some of which some players may not notice and are not worth detailing, but here are the big ones:
• Players should no longer get into "dead" games that don't operate correctly
• Improvement in framerate/lag
• Matchmaking fixes
• Fewer players floating / clipping through environment
• Fix for freezing/crashing issues if you join a game as it is ending
• Can no longer leave party while in a co-op game (was causing a crash)
• Party fixes dealing with multiple invites, co-op
• Some SFX in St. Louis have been cleaned up
• Broadway map now loads games correctly
• Fixed issues when...
117w ago - Today Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has shared some fresh Resistance 3 PS3 videos including the final weapon called The Cryogun and the survivors below.
Additionally, Resistance.3.PS3-DUPLEX has also now hit the Internet with the PlayStation 3 release group reporting that the game requires 3.66 Firmware.
To quote: It has been nearly three years since you last played Resistance 2, and in a studio where we keep up a game-a-year schedule, that seems like a very long time to wait.
I'm very happy to announce the release of Resistance 3 in North America today, as well as the release across Europe over the next 2-3 days. The team here has poured three years of their lives into bringing you the heroic survival of Joseph Capelli on his cross-country trip to New York.
This brutal alternate 1957 America is our most polished take on the Resistance universe yet. Along the way, you'll see the dust storm from a Chimeran Terraformer, a flooded town, young rebels fighting to take back St. Louis from the Chimera, haunted mine towns and a snow packed New York City.
To make it even better, you can experience the whole game in 2-player co-op, either split-screen...
118w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has shared some video footage today for fans of when Resistance 3 for PS3 met Sony spokesman Kevin Butler.
To quote: As we lead up to Resistance 3's launch this Tuesday, we wanted to start your holiday weekend right with the two television commercials you will be seeing for Resistance 3 over the next few weeks.
These commercials will be airing during NFL games and my personal favorite, college football, as well as series premieres of some of the biggest shows on TV.
Why two commercials, you ask? Well, we have two great approaches for Resistance 3. One involves the story of Joseph Capelli's journey. In some ways this ties us back to the very first live-action prologue trailer that showed us the first glimpse of Resistance 3's grim new world.
Here you get a glimpse of the emotions and story that make up our game. We really feel like this ad wonderfully captures and encapsulates Resistance 3. Take a look:
Hope you liked that commercial and it got you pumped for the game's launch. That said, what's a huge PS3 exclusive without a Kevin Butler commercial? Maybe it's best if you just watch.
118w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has made available a video today which covers recording the soundtrack of Resistance 3 PS3 at Abbey Road.
To quote: When we set out to make Resistance 3, we wanted to make it an emotional, personal story of Joseph Capelli's harrowing journey to New York City in the face of certain death.
It's a brutal game, showing how humanity struggles to survive under the crushing weight of the Chimera. A big element of that was making sure that our score and soundtrack represented this new emotional payload.
It was a sincere pleasure on the part of Insomniac Games to work with Composer Boris Salchow on the score for Resistance 3. Boris was here constantly, seeing the game and talking to our team.
He wanted to be invested in the story and create a truly great score, and we're confident that he's done just that.
It was also a pleasure to have the score for Resistance 3 recorded by an orchestra at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London, The same studio that The Beatles recorded in was used to record our score and our colleagues in Europe were there...
118w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has posted up a PS3 developer diary video today showcasing the Chimera enemy munitions below.
To quote: It's hard to believe that Resistance 3 is coming out next week! It's been an amazing journey for those of us at Insomniac Games, we've spent the last three years ensuring this is our most polished, focused, and consistent entry in the Resistance franchise.
We're very excited to share it with you. As we get close to release, it's time to show you our very last Dev Diary - this one focused on the high-tech weapons created or influenced by the Chimeran invaders.
As you may know by now, the Resistance 3 Multiplayer Beta is winding down on September 4th, but we wanted to get one last blast of testing on our servers, so we've made the beta available to all on the PlayStation Store. We also wanted to acknowledge that while the R3 beta wasn't always smooth sailing, we totally appreciated those of you who helped us test the game and stuck with us through the rough patches.
We've announced a Beta Player Appreciation program - if you download and play a few rounds of the Resistance 3 Beta before it ends on September 4th, you'll receive a couple of cool rewards for the final game....
