Sony Reveals Why PSOne Classics Have No Set PSN Release Date

259w ago - Today the sleuths at Examiner.com (linked above) have uncovered a reply from Sony's PlayStation Store Senior Manager Grace Chen explaining why PSOne Classics have no set PSN release date.

Although the answer isn't surprising, it's definitely good to know why classics such as Final Fantasy VIII are not available in the States to date.

To quote: "Ever since Sony announced PSOne Classics for the PSP and PlayStation 3, new releases have been inconsistent and often appear suddenly without any prior announcements.

Grace Chen, Senior Manager of the PlayStation Store, explain why this is the case on the comment section of the [Register or Login to view links]:

There are a variety of reasons that need to be considered when releasing PSOne Classics... code emulation and testing, licensing rights, music clearances, etc.

Although the process may not always be smooth, Sony has definitely been picking up the pace in 2009 with new PSOne Classics."
 

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep PSP Release Date Announced

261w ago - The release date for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep for Sony's PSP console has been something of an oddity, at least up until recently.

Square Enix finally gave fans some clue, as they announced it would be coming in "January".

However, it looks like they've finally given in and announced a more definitive date, as Japanese site [Register or Login to view links] claims to have the official release date for the game.

The release date? January 9th, 2010. This is only the Japanese release date though, so there's still no word about the North American or European releases.

265w ago - At TGS 2009 Ubisoft has announced that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction will hit the street on February 26, 2010 exclusively for the Xbox 360 console and for Windows PC.

Ninja Gaiden 2 US Demo Release Date Confirmed for PS3

266w ago - Tecmo have confirmed that the demo for Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 will be going live in North America next week on September 24, 2009.

The demo is due later this week on September 17th in Japan.

To quote: "In the demo you be able to play two scenario stages, one as Ryu, and the other with Ayane. You will also have a chance to play two co-op stages, again with access to Ryu and Ayane.

The character that you don't select is controlled by the CPU.

The demo has also been confirmed as being offline only, in the retail version you will be able to play co-op online."
 

Final Fantasy XIII Japanese Release Date and Bundle Confirmed

267w ago - It's official! Square Enix will release Final Fantasy XIII on December 17, 2009 in Japan, unless it decides not to between now and then.

To quote: "Square Enix president Yoichi Wada announced the release date and the price (8,800 yen, or $95!) today at its Final Fantasy XIII Party in the [Register or Login to view links] museum (via [Register or Login to view links]).

Kaz Hirai then took the stage to announce that of course there will be a PS3 hardware bundle containing the game.

He didn't mention any details - no price nor release date, though it's sure to be day-and-date with the standalone software. When Square Enix does show it off, it'll be hard not to hear about it."
