Video: Pix the Cat: PS4 Exclusive Arena Mode Details by Pastagames

50°
19w ago - Pastagames Designer Nadim Haddad shared a video and details today on a PS4 exclusive arena mode in Pix the Cat for PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: Hi folks, my name is Nadim and I do game design at Pastagames. We are launching Pix the Cat on PS4 and PS Vita (with cross buy support) in early October, and we have a new game mode exclusive for PS4 players: the Arena!

Call me old-school, but the most outrageous fun I have when playing games is with friends, at home, facing the same screen, hearing laughter or frustration after a quirky situation. I grew up with Bomberman and am still playing Towerfall just to enjoy shoving my buddy's controller away when he's winning or whining too much!

We've been wanting to make a nervy, rewarding couch-multiplayer game for years at Pastagames, and Pix the Cat turned out to be the best opportunity to satisfy this multiplayer urge.

In the Arcade Mode, you control a restless cat in a dimensional maze. You collect ducklings that line up in a tail behind you - and then deliver them on targets to open the gates of the next level.

The core Pix gameplay sets solid grounds for a feisty Arena brawl. So we added three other cats to make a party of (up to) four players...

Q-Games Shares New Gameplay Details on The Tomorrow Children

50°
19w ago - Q-Games Ltd President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert shared new PS4 gameplay details today on The Tomorrow Children for PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: I'm excited to be at TGS announcing more news about The Tomorrow Children. As we continue to build and perfect The Tomorrow Children's open world concept, we wanted to expand upon the details we revealed at Gamescom and share more about the game.

The Tomorrow Children is an online game, combining synchronous and asynchronous gameplay. This is to encourage a fresh style of play. If you just want to explore by yourself you can and other players can't see you.

But if you want to interact with other players, your actions in the world will begin to pop up in their worlds. The world itself is synchronized too, so your interactions appear in both your own world and theirs.

For example: if you dig a hole, that hole will be dug in the same place for other players in their world. It's pretty interesting to see people working together within this system, digging out to find resources and using them to build up their towns together.

People have asked what kind of roles players can assume in the game. The Tomorrow Children is a sandbox but there are some loosely defined roles you can take on such as Radio Officer which...

To quote: Our players are the heart and soul of [Register or Login to view links], and when the game begins October 7th, Evolution Studios will be going all out to keep the experience fresh and exciting for all of you.

We're determined to build up a lively community of millions of connected racers around you, so our post-launch development will be influenced by what you do in the game and the feedback you share with us.

New content, improvements, and updates will all be shaped by you and everyone you play with. And of course, we're going to do our best to keep surprising you with our own creativity, too!

In fact, thanks to all of the players we've met and talked to already, our mission has already started.

We're already working hard to develop free updates that will introduce a powerful weather system (that you can play around with to change the dynamics of every race) and a photo mode, because they've both been requested ever since...

FuturLab Details the Explosions of Velocity 2X on PS4 and PS Vita

22w ago - FuturLab Technical Director Hussain Sheikh shares details today of the explosions in Velocity 2X on PS4 and PS Vita.

To quote: Hello beautiful people! Hussain Sheikh, Technical Director from FuturLab back again to talk juice. Explosion juice! Get a cuppa, this is a big one!

The Fateful Day

It was just another morning at FuturLab, I had just sat down at my desk, waiting for my PC to boot up, hot cup of coffee in my hand. I was getting ready to rock, when James walked over with a serious look on his face: "Need to talk to you man... In the boardroom!"

You know that look, it's the "I mean business" look. I had never seen James like that before, so I thought I must've done something wrong.

A bit concerned something bad was going to happen, I went into the meeting room and James said: "Sit down buddy, I need to show you something."

"Oh dear, here it comes!" I thought. But then he started drawing this graph on the notepad:

Now that WAS bad, just not the kind of bad I'd anticipated. But in the world of graphs making any sense at all; this was brutal.

Then James started explaining it to me. Most of his explanation was pretty much like the graph, so I tuned it out, though I do remember imagining the graph he actually wanted...

Sony Details How the World Cup Influenced FIFA 15 on PS4

50°
23w ago - Sony Content Producer Tom Wallis detailed how the World Cup influenced FIFA 15 on PS4 today for PlayStation 4 fans below.

To quote: "We picked the winner of the Brazil World Cup with our simulation."

It's a lofty claim to make, but one that Nick Channon, Senior Producer on [Register or Login to view links], doesn't make lightly.

"We do a simulation every year and we actually, before the tournament, picked Germany. I'm not sure too many people agreed with us. A lot of people were looking at Argentina or Brazil as the favorites."

When talking to Nick backstage at Gamescom this year, talk inevitably kept returning to this summer's footballing extravaganza over in Brazil and perhaps unsurprisingly, it becomes clear that the tournament had an impact on how the final game is turning out.

One area in particular - goalkeepers - came in for special attention as the tournament wound to its conclusion.

"It felt for a lot of the World Cup that the standout position was the goalkeeper," explains Nick.

"Tim Howard from the USA had the record for the most saves in a game. That was something we didn't see coming - just how the World Cup became a story of the...
