PS3 and PSP Minis Round Up on PSN for July 21, 2010

50°
152w ago - SCEE's PSP European Product Manager Adam Grant has revealed this weeks PS3 and PSP Minis round up on PlayStation Network today, as follows:

Releasing today across all PlayStation Stores we have two great new minis titles: the icy puzzler Arctic Adventures Polar's Puzzles and the hotly anticipated new title from Frima Studio, Young Thor. Check them out below.

Young Thor by Frima Studio

Frima Studio have already launched two minis titles, the brilliant Zombie Tycoon and Widgets Odyssey, but Young Thor could very well be their best yet. A fresh take on iconic Norse Mythology, the game has been inspired by some of the best action-platformers and beat-em up brawlers around.

Have you ever dreamed that nothing could stop you because of the prodigious power you wield, because you are a god? As Young Thor, god of thunder, unleash your fifteen devastating attacks and magical powers on the myriad of enemies that lurk in Midgard, the land of man, and in Asgard, land of the gods.

Explore four vast environments in your quest for the eight artifacts that will help you defeat Hel and her two cursed allies, Ratatoskr and Nidhogg,...

Videos: Five New PSP and PS3 Minis Arriving on PSN Today

100°
153w ago - Today SCEE's PSP European Product Manager Adam Grant has shared videos spotlighting five new PSP and PS3 minis that are hitting PSN today.

To quote: We have 5 great new minis playable on both PSP and PS3 launching today ranging from bouncing balls to street crime! Check them out below.

Archibald's Adventures from Rake in Grass

Archibald's Adventures offers a gameplay mixed of action and puzzle elements with gradually rising complexity. You start as a boy on a skateboard in a bunch of easy levels, but that's just a warm up. Soon you will roll in a robotic vehicle capable of riding on walls and ceilings, you will fly on a jet device or remotely control a mysterious floating bubble able to switch distant mechanisms or transport objects.

With 191 levels, the game will keep you entertained for many hours!

Car Jack Streets from Tag Games

After much anticipation, Tag's hit game Car Jack Streets explodes onto minis!

The player takes control of Randal Meyers, a petty criminal with a major gambling addiction, who's found himself in arrears to the Italian mob. Now that his debt has reached the nice round sum of $1,000,000, the mob boss Frankie decides it's time for Randal...

WipEout, PlayStation Minis & Just Cause 2 Hits PlayStation Home

50°
154w ago - Sony Online Community Specialist Locust_Star has revealed today that WipEout, a PlayStation Minis Event, Just Cause 2 and Sodium updates are all included in this weeks PlayStation Home content.

To quote: WipEout - one of PlayStation's most celebrated and longest-running franchises - turns 15 this year. To celebrate this momentous occasion, we're launching the WipEout Museum - a brand new space stuffed to the brim with games based upon this critically-acclaimed series of hypersonic, futuristic racers.

In other news, we'll be opening the doors of the new Observatory space this Thursday, July 8th, for the PlayStation minis event. Challenge your friends to a battle of wits, memory, and luck over a board consisting of a grid of glowing tiles.

Flip the tiles over to reveal a variety of minis images; reveal two matching tiles to score a point. To keep things interesting, we've riddled the board with random tiles hiding bonuses and traps (such as a tile that steals points from your opponent).

You can even hide traps of your own, weakening your opponent and securing the spoils (which, of course, come in the form of a highly-collectible reward). Elsewhere in the Observatory you will find the pool-esque FreezeBall game, which rounds out the exclusive PlayStation minis...

Video: The Mystery Of The Crystal Portal for PSP Hits PSN

50°
155w ago - G5 Entertainment's Business Development Director Julia Palatovska has shared a video today showcasing The Mystery Of The Crystal Portal, which hits PSP on PSN today.

To quote: Do you like hidden object adventure games? If so, then we've got great news for you: G5 Entertainment has released the very first hidden object game in the minis category on PlayStation Store.

Welcome to The Mystery of the Crystal Portal - a fascinating adventure game that will challenge your attention and associative skills.

What makes The Mystery of the Crystal Portal special? Well, from the very beginning of the game you're involved in an adventure. You meet the journalist Nicole Rankwist whose archaeologist father disappeared during his study of the mysterious Crystal Portal, and together with Nicole, you start your search for Mr. Rankwist.

During your quest you visit various locations around the world, and in each location you are required to find hidden objects to unlock the next scene with more puzzling tasks.

The gameplay has an unusual twist which makes the difference - hidden objects in each scene are brought together in sets, and often objects of one set will be revealed only after you find all objects of another set in...

Burnin' Rubber for PSP and PS3 Minis is Now Available on PSN

50°
156w ago - G1M2 Founder Scott Hawkins has announced today that Burnin' Rubber (aka Bump 'n' Jump) for PSP and PS3 Minis is now available on PSN for $3.99.

To quote: We are very excited to announce the release of our latest PlayStation Minis game, Burnin' Rubber, arriving for PSP (and PS3) on Tuesday June 22.

Burnin' Rubber is a classic arcade game that was originally released by Data East in 1982. Many people also know this game by the name "Bump 'n' Jump."

In addition to driving really fast (hence the name "Burnin' Rubber"), you have the ability to crash into other cars and launch your car high up in the air to avoid obstacles, clear water gaps, and crush opponents from above (hence the alternative name "Bump 'n' Jump").

Players earn points by taking out other cars and by making progress through each of the courses in the game. There is a little known bonus for clearing a level without taking out any enemies -- but I personally prefer to smash as many cars as possible!

We added some cool extra features to the PlayStation Minis version of the game including the ability to save and load your game at any point, toggle arcade game settings, and...
