121w ago - SCEE's James Gallagher has posted up a Ninja Gaiden 3 PS3 Gamescom 2011 video trailer and interview with Yosuke Hayashi today, as follows:
There are some people out there that will tell you modern games are too easy, that they hold your hand for ten hours of story and then wave goodbye until next year's sequel. However, there is growing number of titles, such as the upcoming Dark Souls, that are looking to punish you like a Victorian headmaster.
The Ninja Gaiden series has always been a renowned controller clencher and the third instalment in the series, coming to PS3 next year, includes PlayStation Move support. Here's the latest trailer:
At gamescom I caught up with the head of Team Ninja, Yosuke Hayashi, to discuss difficulty, PS Move and the decision to set the opening scenes of Ninja Gaiden 3 in my hometown, London.
Do you think that modern games are too easy and that there is a strong market for the very difficult?
You have to try to satisfy your fans and Ninja Gaiden 3 is still very difficult on the hardest setting for those fans who like that about...
123w ago - Today Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has shared some hands-on interview details for Rage on the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
To quote: Last week, Jeff and I went hands-on with the PS3 version of Rage, id Software's October-bound first-person shooter.
All told, we experienced more than two hours of post-apocalyptic action, driving, and exploration in a nuke-shattered world of exquisite visual detail and startling violence.
Afterwards, we spoke with id Software President Todd Hollenshead to discuss what made the legendary DOOM developer shift gears to a story-driven, open-world playground – and to learn more about the mysteries lurking in that sprawling wasteland.
Todd Hollenshead, President, id Software: "You have to sort of experience it, it's very difficult to explain. The megatextures allow us to make the entire world unique. It's all painted and modeled and because we're streaming the textures, we're not really constrained by system memory. We can have completely unique elements throughout the world without costing us performance."
Sid Shuman, PlayStation.Blog: Any hands-on discussion of Rage must begin with its stunning visuals. Rage is...

To quote: As the release of White Knight Chronicles II, exclusively on PS3, draws closer, we got in touch with the game's director Yoshiaki Kusuda to talk about the story behind WKC II and the future of the series.
Tell us about the story in White Knight Chronicles II
The game takes place one year after the events of the original White Knight Chronicles. A year after the return of the Yshrenian Empire, Leonard and his companions come back together to protect the Kingdom of Balandor, the Archduchy of Faria and the Free City of Greede from the Yshrenian Empire, and end up having to save the entire world.
Two new characters will also play key parts in the story: Miu, the daughter of Archduke Dalam; and the mysterious Scardigne. There is civil unrest in the Archduchy of Faria, with one faction trying to protect Miu and another militant faction trying to spark a revolution. Scardigne belongs to the former, but you'll need to play the actual game to fully understand the role he takes in the story.
White Knight Chronicles II will bring a satisfying conclusion to the conflict...
153w ago - Today the BBC (linked above) has published an interview conducted with PlayStation 3 hackers fail0verflow and GeoHot on the recent PS3 hacks and summarizing the unveiling Sony's secret key.
Below is the interview, to quote: "The PlayStation 3's security has been broken by hackers, potentially allowing anyone to run any software - including pirated games - on the console
A collective of hackers recently showed off a method that could force the system to reveal secret keys used to load software on to the machine.
A US hacker, who gained notoriety for unlocking Apple's iPhone, has now used a similar method to extract the PS3's master key and publish it online. Sony declined to comment on the hack.
"The complete console is compromised - there is no recovery from this," said pytey, a member of the fail0verflow group of hackers, who revealed the initial exploit at the Chaos Communication Congress in Berlin in December.
157w ago - SCEE Blog Manager James Gallagher has shared a video interview today spotlighting Kung Fu Live PS3 with the PlayStation Eye.
To quote: Kung Fu Live is the camera-based beat'em-up that will be released on PlayStation Store tomorrow.
It uses the PlayStation Eye to throw you into a comic book world of martial arts, giant enemies and spectacular superpowers.
I recently caught up with Teemu Mäki-Patola, CEO of Virtual Air Guitar Company, to take an early swing at it myself and grab an interview.
Why did Virtual Air Guitar decide to try something so ambitious with its first game, rather than go for something more traditional?
Our background is in university research where we were working on things like virtual reality interfaces, so that's our interest as well as our expertise and we wanted to bring some of that to the gaming market.
We believe that we can use our research to bring new experiences to games, which is why we set up the company.
What are the biggest challenges in producing a camera-based game like Kung Fu Live?
First of all, it's really difficult to get the technology side so perfect that you're confident...
