83w ago - TeaM_AC1D in the wild, from one of our newest and highly skilled members KDSBest we have something nice for the scene - a PS3 SPU emulation pre-alpha module that allows x86 PCs to emulate the SPU.
I wanted to contribute to the scene , so I coded a tool that might help the community our members and fellow dev's. This Tool is intended for dev's so please be careful if you don't know what you do. I will not be held responsible for any harm.
My tool is a emulator for PS3 modules (e.g metldr), it is in pre alpha stage but I thought, it would be great to get some community feedback.
How to use:
Not all SPU Commands are implemented yet, but it is easily extendable and I will make it support DMA, all SPU Commands and SPU Mailbox soon.
First open a .kds file. Check out the metldr.kds to see an example. The rest is like a normal debugger. If you put dumps of your reversed functions in the KnownFunctions folder, it will detect it and mark that function for you.
Just for example Mark the whole cellSpuAesDecryptCbcCfb128 function in HexView in IDA -> Right Click -> Save...
To quote: Originally, I was thinking about to not release to all until I update to the Caprice 4.2.0 version, but since I've no time left to solve some vdu bug in 4.2.0, I decide to release the dbg version based on the 4.1 version.
(as you can play some old good games with this version, but be sure to know what exactly is an Amstrad CPC computer before lunch it on the PS3 ) So ...
What?: A quick port of caprice32-4.1.0 to ps3 using PSL1GHTV2 / SDL.
Why? : It was the first computer i own.
Who? : Rtype
88w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developers opium2k, Themaister and Squarepusher2 have made available a PS3 port of SSNES (manual reader shader), which is a multi-system emulator for Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and BSD with roots as a SNES emulator.
To quote: Due to be released within the next day or two is version 0.9.5 of SSNES as well as the initial release of the PS3 and 360 ports. SSNES is a multi-platform, multi-system emulator with ports being worked on for PC, OSX, PS3, 360 and a few more I believe.
As I said, it's a multi-system emulator. Don't let the name fool you, it's not just for SNES games! It currently supports games from systems such as NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, SMS, GG, Genesis & FBA using selectable cores from various emulators to ensure the best compatibility, accuracy and performance for the end user.
To demonstrate the capabilities of SSNES and more specifically maister's manual reader shader I've been working on some implementations for the past couple months to show off just a taste of some of this shader's uses.
Here are some screenshots showing some of the uses on roms for the systems that SSNES currently supports:
Pages of the manual are changed by the user with a key combination of (enter+Q or W) on PC and (Start+L1...
88w ago - On this April Fool's Day a group of PlayStation 3 developers going by the name of athen5cl0ne have released what they call 910D0 Beta, a purported all-in-one Nintendo emulator for the PS3 entertainment system that claims to support NES, SNES, GameBoy, GBC, GBA, Nintendo DS, 3DS, Nintendo 64, GameCube and Wii titles.
According to soratheultima some emulation (including 3DS, GameCube and Wii) isn't possible yet, however, tthousand reports that they have uncovered a major flaw in running Nintendo code on the PS3 console and that a more detailed guide is incoming.
Although several users have noted it only crashes for them (even with the proper ROMs and BIOS) those interested can give it a try and share your results below with the included PKG files.
