124w ago - Following in the same direction as KaKaRoToKS PS3 Custom Firmware now utilizing PlayStation 3 PUP files, today Cyberskunk has updated PS3 Rebug Retail to Debug Firmware to 3.41E Beta v1.0.1.

From the official Rebug Site, to quote:

INSTALL through XMB no jailbreak needed

UNINSTALL through XMB with Retail 3.41 update file

KNOWN BUG: When exiting from a BD/DVD or GAME when NOT in JB mode the PS3 will restart..

This only occurs when the PS3 is NOT jailbroken and NO data is lost when it happens.. I am trying to fix the issue now but thought that since it is a beta people that haven’t can at least preview Rebug and if the bug is too annoying simply update back to retail without losing any saves, game data, etc..

NOTE: It is recommended that users of the previous Rebug pack install DO NOT update with this as it will install the the annoying exit bug mentioned above.. If you have installed it and would like to return back to the pack install you will have to run the Retail 3.41 update first.. No data will be lost doing this..

126w ago - Cyberskunk has been working around the clock and has made major progress- today we bring to you pictures and confirmation that the Quick Signup PS3 Debug option is actually working on a Retail PlayStation 3 console with Rebug!

There are plenty of other PS3 debug features working, but I won't get into that right now

I have blurred out the username from the quick signup to protect the account because $ony will know the password.

I'm sure this will piss off a few devs seeing that they would not like to see retail consoles converted to debugs, but that's the nature of the game

129w ago - Update: VICE (Versatile Commodore Emulator) for PS3 version 1.0.2 updates for C64, C128, PLUS4 and VIC20 are now available followed by version 1.0.3 complete with source code!

Today I have released VICE (Versatile Commodore Emulator) for PS3 release 1.0, which is a C64, PLUS4 and VIC20 emulator for PS3 JailBreak users.

Please note, this is not related to the forthcoming release by AreaScout. But a bit of competition never hurt anyone

129w ago - A few weeks back we saw a video of PS Downgrade in action, and today ANTONIOPS at Spanish site Elotrolado.net (linked above) has posted up some videos showing PS3 Debug Firmware v2.15 being installed via PSDowngrade on a 40GB Retail version 3.41 console followed by running a PS Store demo.

Normally PlayStation 3 service boxes require a proper downgrade PUP file, however, comparing the SHA1 hash of the released PUP confirms it contains nothing special (just the old 3.41) so there appears to be something 'interesting' taking place when downgrading via PS Downgrade.

To quote, roughly translated: The noise you hear when you turn on the PS3 is the reader who is half repaired.

The Debug firmware I've installed the firmware downgrade PSDowngrade 3.41 to 2.15 Debug.

At the moment can only run signed code, such as a PS Store demo.

129w ago - After creating Simple AVCHD Manager - the first AVCHD manager for a jailbroken PS3 - some of the other programs I have been exploring had the requirement for a file selection screen in common, so i decided to create a simple file manager utilising a pointer like Multiman and added some other useful functions.

As this is only version 0.1 it has a few areas that need cleaned up and only has some of the planned functionality implemented.
