CounterSpy: Designing Propaganda of the PS4 Espionage Thriller

50°
19w ago - Dynamighty Creative Director Mark Holmes shared details today on designing the propaganda of the upcoming PS4 espionage thriller CounterSpy below.

To quote: Greetings Counter Agents, This is Mark Holmes, co-creative meddler here at Dynamighty and art director of our debut title, [Register or Login to view links].

After 16 wonderful years at Pixar, working on most of the studios' films as a character, environment, graphic artist, art director and production designer, I was excited to bring my experience and passion for visual storytelling to Dynamighty.

Not only was I invited to help build a new and exciting game company from the ground up, I was given the opportunity to design a brand new game drawn from the cool world of 1960s cold war espionage! How could I say no?!

Having originally worked in games back in the early '90s, one of my earliest goals coming back was to help us find our own original voice for CounterSpy that would reflect the tone, themes and ideas we wanted to explore as a company, while at the same time would set us apart from the many other titles that have explored this rich genre.

Building a relatively straight-forward action-stealth shooter, we wanted to make a...

PS3 SFO Batch Category Patcher By CFWProphet is Released

50°
19w ago - Today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer cfwprophet released what he calls PS3 SFO Batch Category Patcher with details below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links]

To quote: Hello guys

I'll put that tiny app out which is a way over to be but here it is!

What it does?

It Batch Converts the SFO's (or only one) Category of a PKG file. You put a pkg or more into the folders app, run it and choose the new category to patch and click the button. Useful for CFW/MFW with custom categories in the XMB.

In short, it helps you to put your app's/pkg's into a other category then the Game column in XMB.

I need your help to test the app and tell me if all is working like I should. For sure I did a test and patched a pkg and all worked fine but who knows. It could be that the pkg won't install on a higher FW so I need to change the used app for the pkg generation.

Or it could be that we may need a additional wait timer for the background worker... uhm, yea such stuff ^^ Let me know I'm awaiting your suggestion

Yours cfwprophet

Sony Cuts Costs of PS4 Hardware Production, Price Drop Coming?

350°
20w ago - Today Sony has made available a [Register or Login to view links] revealing that they have already managed to cut the costs of PS4 hardware production which leaves PlayStation 4 fans curious if a price drop will be coming soon.

To quote: "The cuts have allowed Sony to revise its financial expectations, increasing its projected FY2015 operating income for its Games & Network Services division from 20bn yen to 25bn yen.

"Sales are expected to be higher than the May forecast primarily due to the strong performance of the PS4," Sony said in its latest earnings report. "Operating income is expected to be higher than the May forecast primarily due to PS4 hardware cost reductions."

The reduced costs suggest Sony could be better placed to cut the price of PS4 at an earlier point in its life-cycle - or continue to reap improved profits from ongoing sales.

PS4 sales stood at 7 million in April although Sony has failed to provide an update since. PS3 and PS4 sold a combined 3.4m units between April-June 2014, however, of which the vast majority are expected to be PS4."

Borderlands 2 PS Vita Update Out Today, Improved Stability & Control

100°
26w ago - Sony Third Party Production Director Gio Corsi announced that the Borderlands 2 PS Vita update is out today, which features improved stability and control.

To quote: It's been a few weeks since we launched Borderlands 2 for PS Vita and so far we've been overwhelmed by the community response.

We're happy to announce that title update 1.04 is available today, which should further improve the overall Borderlands 2 PS Vita experience and addresses some of the feedback from you the fans.

• We've worked with Iron Galaxy Studios to improve stability and performance throughout the game, including addressing known issues with audio playback.

• Gyroscopic controls can now be independently inverted. This should ensure that fans of inverted vertical look will also be able to enjoy Gyroscopic aiming as well!

• There are now scaling sliders for rear touch inputs in the Options menu. Many users mapped lesser used actions to the rear touch but reported that in gripping their PS Vita systems, they'd still accidentally trigger those inputs. Users can now scale the input area down to much smaller zones, mitigating this.

• Lastly, we've addressed an issue where players were not notified that their online session had expired, which caused players to incorrectly appear...
