Sony PSP is Now Available for $129.99, New Greatest Hits Arrive

165w ago - Sony VP of Product Marketing Scott Steinberg has announced today that the PlayStation Portable is now available for $129.99 alongside some new PSP Greatest Hits and Favorites Collections.

To quote: Since launching in 2005, the PSP platform has had a profound impact on the way we play games while on-the-go, pushing the boundaries for cross-media entertainment and setting the benchmark for quality for portable games - not to mention selling 23 million units to date in North America and more than 67 million worldwide.

Today we're very excited to announce that the PSP-3000 system will be available for a new low price of $129.99 (MSRP) starting February 27, 2011, offering its greatest value to date. In addition, going forward PSP Entertainment Packs will be available for $159.99 (MSRP); bringing you everything you need to experience the PSP system and an even better value.

178w ago - Square Enix Brand Manager Rob Rutter has shared a new Lord Of Arcana trailer for PlayStation Portable with fans today.

To quote: I just wanted to share our new trailer with you for LORD of ARCANA, which is coming out early next year for PSP. Set in the world of Horodyn, players take on the role of slayers trying to get their hands on the incredible power of Arcana.

We've also updated the game Web site at www.lordofarcana.com with more info on the game, the monsters you'll face and the arsenal of weapons at your disposal. Take a look if you'd like to find out more.

Video: Giant Invizimals in Combat on PlayStation Portable

180w ago - Today Sony's European Product Manager Phil Lynch has posted up a video of Giant Invizimals in Combat on the PlayStation Portable handheld console.

For those curious, Invizimals Shadow Zone is out this week for PSP 3000.

To quote: Phil here again with another Invizimals video. Following the large traps experiment we posted on the 18th October, we had lots of requests to see a battle using the large trap.

The guys at Novarama in Spain have obliged with the video below. The guys in the background are Novarama's Dani Sanchez-Crespo, Lead Designer on Invizimals, and Juan Luis Abadia, the Lead Programmer.

Video: No Heroes Allowed is Out Now for PlayStation Portable

181w ago - SCEE Associate Producer Jan Kuczynski has announced today that No Heroes Allowed is out now for PlayStation Portable on PSN and has shared a fresh video trailer of the PSP title as well.

To quote: Just a quick reminder that No Heroes Allowed! goes on sale on PSN today priced at £9.99/€12.99. To celebrate, we've also got a new trailer which I've uploaded below.

And here's something for fans of the series - below are just a few of the new monster and hero types you'll find in No Heroes Allowed!

There are loads more mutations and rare breeds this time bringing the total amount of monsters well over the 200 mark.

You'll also notice Badmella, daughter of Badman and heiress to the Underworld - she plays a big role in this game (if only mostly to complain about the lack of mobile reception in the dungeon).




 

Team17 Introduces Worms: Battle Islands for PlayStation Portable

183w ago - Today Team17 Community Manager Mark Baldwin has introduced Worms: Battle Islands for the PlayStation Portable handheld console.

To quote: This winter sees the release of the latest game in our long running Worms series, Worms: Battle Islands, on PSP available from PlayStation Store.

Worms: Battle Islands marks the third time that the series has made an appearance on the PSP, and the game is packed with content and great new features, some of which I'll be talking about in this post.

Game overview:

The first thing to say about the game is that at its core it's the traditional 2D Worms experience.

It's a turn based game where players use a mix of strategy and skill to move their army of worms about a landscape, and attack one another with a range of funny weapons (exploding sheep, deadly bananas, fully automatic sub machine guns, etc.) until the last team standing are declared the winners. The physics are much more solid in this version and the game features a sizable inventory of forty different weapons and utilities, leading to more complex strategies and a more rewarding experience.
