Video: PlayStation Home Releases v1.60 Update Patch and Details

145w ago - Sony Community Manager Locust_Star has announced today that PlayStation Home update patch version 1.60 will be arriving this Thursday with details below, as follows:

This Thursday, December 8th, we will release the latest update to the PlayStation Home client.

PlayStation Home version 1.60 delivers a wealth of improvements and updates to the core client, not the least of which is a doubling of the item placement limit in personal spaces!

Here's a look at what's coming to you as part of PlayStation Home v1.60:

How to Apply the v1.60 Patch

If you are upgrading from an old version of Home (v1.40 or earlier) then when you attempt to apply the v1.60 patch please wait for the orange "hard drive activity" light to stop flashing on your PS3 before commencing the patching process.

NEW FEATURES

• Furniture Placement Limit
• We have doubled the furniture placement limit in personal spaces and clubhouses from 50 to 100 items.
• Standard and active furniture limits have been merged into the same system. Currently all actives take up 22 furniture slots in the new system. Thus you can now place a variety of different combinations:

• 100 standard furniture items or...
• 78 standard furniture items...

Sony PlayStation Network Security Update, SOE Now Down

176w ago - Today Sony's Senior Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold has made available another PlayStation Network security update to clarify some common PSN concerns, as follows:

On Tuesday, April 26 we shared that some information that was compromised in connection with an illegal and unauthorized intrusion into our network. Once again, we'd like to apologize to the many users who were inconvenienced and worried abut this situation.

We want to state this again given the increase in speculation about credit card information being used fraudulently. One report indicated that a group tried to sell millions of credit card numbers back to Sony. To my knowledge there is no truth to this report of a list, or that Sony was offered an opportunity to purchase the list.

One other point to clarify is from this weekend's press conference. While the passwords that were stored were not "encrypted," they were transformed using a cryptographic hash function. There is a difference between these two types of security measures which is why we said the passwords had not been encrypted. Sony Announces PlayStation Home 1.5, Sodium Space and More

178w ago - Sony's PS Home Community Specialist GlassWalls has announced the arrival of PlayStation Home version 1.5 update with the addition of a Sodium Personal Space and an Aurora War Event.

To quote: PlayStation Home will be taken offline this evening for our weekly content publish.

While this downtime will occur approximately 24 hours earlier than what you have become accustomed to per our regular schedule, when the doors are re-opened on the morning of Wednesday, April 20th, you'll find that PlayStation Home will be updated to version 1.5 and will, in turn, be bigger and better than ever before.

PlayStation Home v1.5 was developed with one singular goal in mind: high-quality games. The 1.5 update will introduce a suite of new technology for developers with tools that will provide their future games with real-time multiplayer, improved physics, as well as more realistic graphics and animations.

PlayStation Home v1.5 is packed with tools and features that will enable developers to expand the types of games possible on the platform - from first-person shooters with real-time, peer-to-peer multiplayer to racing games and more.

Also coming with v1.5 are more avatar save slots (24!), new facial building features, better furniture management, various graphical tweaks...
 

Hulu Plus v1.01 Update is Now Available for PlayStation 3

182w ago - Today Hulu's Senior Development Lead Daniel Bear has announced that the Hulu Plus version 1.01 update is available for PlayStation 3 users and includes several improvements and bug fixes.

To quote: This morning, we released the latest version of Hulu Plus for the PlayStation 3.

The update improves the quality of the playback experience, specifically addressing issues such as skips, jumps, and stalls that may occur on certain network connections.

You'll be presented with the update (v1.01) the next time you launch the Hulu Plus app on PS3. Improvements in this version include:

• Improvements and fixes for playback issues such as skipping, jumping, and stalling.
• Improved playback reporting to help our team improve the playback experience.
• UI tweaks to compensate for device overscan.
• Added ability for new users to sign up for a Hulu Plus subscription within the application.
• Additional improvements and bug fixes.
