Video: Hellblade PS4 Dev Diary: Creating the World on PlayStation 4

200°
2w ago - Ninja Theory Product Development ninja Dominic Matthews posted up a PS4 Development Diary video which covers creating the world on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hello, Dominic Matthews here from Ninja Theory. I wanted to come back to PlayStation.Blog to share our latest development diary with you and to also give an update on how things are progressing with the creation of our new PS4 title Hellblade.

Back in August we announced Hellblade at PlayStation's Gamescom Press Conference, which at the time was just 4 months into development. By traditional standards, we were announcing the game incredibly early in development.

The reason for such an early announcement is that we want to share as much of Hellblade's development with you as we possibly can.

The standard approach is for games and their development to be hidden away, with details slowly drip fed to players very carefully and slowly over time. But we want to do the opposite. We announced early so that we could start sharing our development approach, creative exploration and decision making from the very beginning.

Since Gamescom we've been updating our site with regular development diary videos, blog posts, concept art and live streams. We've released three development diaries to date, focused on the announcement...

New Sony PlayStation and PSN Games for October 14, 2014

50°
2w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements is here with the new PlayStation and PSN games for the upcoming week today, as follows:

This week, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's latest effort in horror comes to PS4 and PS3, courtesy of The Evil Within.

As Detective Sebastian Castellanos, fight for survival amidst a deranged world filled with vile creatures and deadly ghouls. Navigate a city gone wrong, where every scavenged bullet and patch of shadow can save Sebastian's life. Upgrade his abilities, endure horrific visions, and unravel the evil forces plaguing Crimson City.

But if you scare a little too easily, don't worry: Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel launches this week on PS3. Witness the origin story of Handsome Jack with four new Vault Hunters and a seemingly endless stream of sweet, sweet loot. Use the low gravity of Pandora's moon to gain the high ground, and obliterate your enemies with new laser weapons and ice bullets. And Claptrap. Always Claptrap.

Oh, bonus news: Minecraft is coming to PS Vita. For a full list of new games hitting PlayStation this week, read on. And enjoy the Drop!

We've been planning this bad boy for some time... and with PlayStation's 20-year anniversary just around the corner, the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Sony Goes Hands-on with Resident Evil PS4 on PlayStation 4

100°
2w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements went hands-on today with Resident Evil PS4 on PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Abandoned mansions. Window-shattering dogs. That iconic zombie moan. So many gamers have memories of the original Resident Evil. It is, after all, a legend in the gaming space and one of the forefathers of the survival horror genre.

Fortunately for those who want to re-experience Chris and Jill's original fight for survival, Capcom is bringing Resident Evil to PS4 and PS3 in early 2015. Last week I took a few nervous steps through the mansion for myself and was mauled almost immediately. Still had fun!

To start, the upcoming remaster of Resident Evil is based on the remake from 2002, which was already a tremendous leap forward in visual fidelity. The fearless members of S.T.A.R.S. were remodeled, the environments were enhanced, and even the dialogue was re-recorded (R.I.P. Jill Sandwich).

The upcoming remaster has been shined to an even brighter (Or darker?) polish, with 1080p visuals and 5.1 surround sound on PS4. Even the smallest details - like the flickering flame of a candle or the sway of overhead branches - have been touched up by the team.

Resident Evil supports various display and control options, as well. Want to play...
