PAIN Amusement Park Open!

50°
319w ago - Per Travis Williams (Sr. Producer, SCEA) today:

The Amusement Park is OPEN FOR BUSINESS! I'm really happy to announce the release of PAIN Amusement Park today. If you have been on the "PAIN Train" since the beginning you know this has been a long time coming. If you have never played PAIN before, it's about time you found out why we have so much fun hurting ourselves and others.

The NEW PAIN Amusement Park represents quite a bit of gameplay evolution from the development side and substantial input from people who post here and on our community site: www.painps3.com

We also took a long hard look at the trophy requirements and after your extremely candid reactions to them decided that it was much better to dial them down. Not everyone who plays PAIN is as good as the top 10%.

Today, we have four NEW content additions:

* One new PAIN Environment: The Amusement Park ($5.99 USD)

* Three new launchable characters: Tati, Yeony and Kenneth ($.99 USD)

* The Amusement Park: A new PAIN environment means you have new modes to cause PAIN, havoc and mischief all over again. Some familiar modes are back (HORSE, Fun With Explosives, Abusement Park) Some brand new modes are here to mix it up (Call da Shot, Clown...

GamePark Unveils the GP2X Successor - The Wiz

50°
321w ago - GamePark has lifted the veil on its successor to the open-source GP2X handheld. Dubbed as "The Wiz," core specifications include a 533MHz ARM9 processor, 64MB RAM, a 2.8 inch OLED screen with touch panel support, and 1GB of built-in NAND flash memory.

Features on the software end include support for Macromedia Flash 7, as well as a pre-loaded MP3 player, image viewer, and EBOOK reader.

All in all, GamePark is promising at least 5 hours of battery life on a 2000mAh lithium battery. The unit itself is fairly small, weighing in at 136g with the battery inserted.

Pricing details have yet to be announced. As with previous GP2X iterations, the hardware will ship alongside the release of a free open-source SDK, allowing homebrew developers to create their own applications and games.

PAIN 'Amusement Park' tidbits revealed; video on Monday

250°
329w ago - Nestled deep in the comments section of the official PAIN Blog, Producer Travis Williams has been busy responding to the community. There's plenty of back-and-forth banter, but there are also some hidden gems of info which we thought you might be interested in.

PAIN's expansion pack, the Amusement Park, will be available this Summer for "less than $6.99" and a video of it in action will be shown on the official PlayStation Blog at some point tomorrow. A European release will happen simultaneously.

With regards to trophies, this will be included in the expansion pack and won't end there. Travis says that "new trophies for PAIN will come out as long as we continue to add content."

Hopefully this is a common occurrence, with future game expansions for existing titles bringing more trophies. Could this mean more Super Stardust HD trophies are coming at some point in the future? Considering there's no Platinum trophy, we're guessing so.
