231w ago - Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today revealed that it has secured the publishing rights to Kenka Bancho 3, a Japanese beat'em up for PSP system.
The game, which puts players in the role of a high school student on a class trip to a historic Japanese city, includes no shortage of fist-to-face and knee-to-gut action, and all in the name of pride and bragging rights.
Press Release: ATLUS TO BRING JAPANESE BRAWLER KENKA BANCHO 3TM FOR PSP®(PlayStation®Portable) SYSTEM TO NORTH AMERICA; FANS TO BE GIVEN OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO NAMING PROCESS
What's in a name? You tell us.
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - JULY 7, 2009 - In an unprecedented move for the publisher, Atlus will look to fan input in the process of choosing a title for the game's North American release.
"Kenka Bancho 3 is a terrific brawler with all the action and humor PSP system owners crave," said Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus. "That said, the game is also called Kenka Bancho 3, which, without translation, may not be the most intuitive title for non-Japanese speaking gamers.
Therefore, we're going to open things up for our fans to help us pick the game's new North American title. We wouldn't be in this situation if my suggestion for the title, Buncha Banchos, had been accepted," Jabbari added...
"I just wanted to clear up any misunderstandings about Shijima's post on the European forum. His comments were directed to his community and it is a mistake to think that the Beta will only be comprised of Europeans.
We will be releasing more information on the Beta for MAG in the future, but we can confirm that it will include users from North America. I know some of you already assumed that but I wanted to make sure you had the official word on it."
237w ago - Natsume announced today that they are bringing the PS3 title Afrika to North America this fall finally.
To quote: Developed by Rhino Studios, Afrika is a photography simulator with adventure elements.
Boasting licenses from Sony and National Geographic (to name a few), Afrika places you in the vast African wilderness as you attempt to capture images of the various animals and plants with your trusty camera.
Afrika is divided into several different modes, though all of them revolve around the "one with nature" design theme. The Safari mode is divvied into three parts: the Safari Game, the Photo Gallery and the Big Game Trophy mode. The GEO Afrika section of the game is also split into three segments: the Afrika Field Guide, the National Geographic Library and the Afrika Viewer.
The Safari Game is the bread and butter of the Afrika experience. In it, you'll choose between a male or female photographer and set up a large tent in the African wild, which serves as your base of operations. Here, you can sort through your various cameras and lenses, study maps of the surrounding environments and check your PC for email and more.
Emails are the key to accepting missions in Afrika, and missions are the primary gameplay component of the experience. You'll be tasked with pursing...
237w ago - BioShock 2 will be available in Europe on October 30th and in North America on November 3rd.
It will be hitting XBox 360, PC and the PS3 console platforms.
To quote: During Take-Two's second quarter financial conference call, CEO Ben Feder announced that BioShock 2 will release in Europe on Friday, October 30, while North American gamers will be returning to Rapture on Tuesday, November 3.
It's worth noting that Take Two still lists the game's platforms as "TBA." Given that the previous title was released for Xbox 360, PC and (eventually) PS3, and that Take-Two enjoys making money, it's likely the game will again hit all three high-definition platforms.
There is still the question as to the order in which the game will hit those platforms, though, and with E3 looming, a timed-exclusivity announcement may be in the offing.
