258w ago - A few weeks back we reported news on PS3 Remote Play being reverse-engineered with a Portable API in the works.

Today Dashhacker has released Open Remote Play v1.0 BETA (for Mac OS X), with a Windows version still in the works.

Download: Open Remote Play v1.0 BETA (for Mac OS X)

You will need access to a hacked PSP to export the remote play settings. All that€s included in the download package.

ORP Howto:

1. If you have not done so already, register your PSP with your PS3 for Remote Play.
2. Copy the ORP_Export folder (it€s included) to your PSP under /PSP/GAME
3. Run Open Remote Play Export on your PSP. This will create a file on the memory stick called export.orp. Copy this file to your PC.
4. Run the ORP GUI and click on Import, locate and import export.orp. You will have to manually change the IP address of your PS3, by default it will be set to 0.0.0.0. I keep two profiles, one for local LAN and another for when I€m connecting from the Internet. You can create multiple profiles by simply changing the Name field and clicking Save.

Play all your PS1 games on your PSP... through Remote Play

50°
331w ago - According to various posts over at the official PlayStation forums, PSP firmware 3.80 and PS3 firmware 2.10 have silently added new functionality to allow users to play PS Store-bought PSOne games and original PSOne game discs on the PSP through Remote Play.

PSOne games via Remote Play also works with firmware 3.71. So as long as your PS3 is updated to 2.10, you can take advantage of this functionality even on a homebrew capable PSP.

To quote: Users have been reporting that Remote Play has been secretly updated in the last firmware revision. With PS3 2.10, PS3 owners that have a Remote Play-ready system will be able to play any PS1 game on their handheld. Yes, that includes both games downloaded from the Store and PS1 game discs. We've personally tried Wild Arms (the downloadable version) and confirmed that it will play via Remote Play. Our tipster tried playing Metal Gear Solid (on disc) and also found that it works. Happy news!

We find ourselves using Remote Play more and more with the inclusion of DivX and WMV playback. Now, PS1 support will increase our time spent with this feature.
