29w ago - Happion Laboratories Chief Scientist Jamie Fristrom has announced that PlayStation Mobile title Sixty Second Shooter Deluxe lands on PSN today!
To quote: Many years ago I quit a pretty sweet job as creative director on Activision's Spider-Man series in the middle of development on Spider-Man 3.
Why did I do such a crazy thing? I'd love to say it was because of the screenplay, but no - a big part of the reason was that even though I had the highfalutin' title "creative director" I didn't feel like it was my game.
Somehow, not enough of my own creative input and ideas were making it into the thing, and I thought that at a small company I could start making games I could call my own again.
And I've been getting my butt kicked ever since! Every mistake you can make as an indie developer... I've probably made it twice. We did okay with Schizoid, which made it into the PAX 10, but didn't bring in enough money to make the next game, and although we managed to hold on for a while longer, doing some contract work here and there, we eventually had to call it quits.
My partner went and got a real job and I was about to as well, but then I heard that the Chrome web browser had...
30w ago - Sony's Plus Content Manager Chris Howe of the PlayStation Store has announced today that Crysis 2 is landing on PlayStation Plus in November!
Below are the details, to quote: We here at Sony Computer Entertainment are very excited to announce that the headline title for the PlayStation Plus service from 7th November is... Crysis 2!
Originally released in March 2011, the second installment in the multi award-winning Crysis series is a visually stunning, high-concept FPS with a gripping storyline written by sci-fi veteran Richard Morgan.
Set in the year 2023, three years after the events of Crysis, you'll find yourself in control of a Force Recon Marine named "Alcatraz", who gains ownership of the Nanosuit 2.0 from Army Delta Force officer Laurence "Prophet" Barnes, who many of you will remember from Crysis.
The violent alien race from the original game has returned, with a full invasion force bent on nothing less than the total annihilation of mankind. In New York, the invaders stalk the streets and a nightmare plague strikes down the city's inhabitants.
The city's infrastructure is in ruins, while its streets and skyline are smashed and in flaming ruin. This is New York City like you've never seen it before.
31w ago - Eurocom Product Manager Rob Matthews has posted up a 007 Legends video today celebrating Bond history with PS3-exclusive multiplayer characters!
To quote: 007 Legends is a videogame celebration of the James Bond film franchise's 50th anniversary, featuring five classic Bond movie-inspired missions along with a downloadable mission based on the next Bond film, Skyfall.
Skyfall is an integral part of 007 Legends story, the action from the film bookends the other missions and we've built the overarching narrative of the game around a pivotal event that occurs early on in the film.
EON Productions, the production company who produce the James Bond films, have been fantastic partners to work with, granting us exclusive behind-the-scenes access to many of the film's stunts and action sequences, allowing us to recreate those breathtaking moments you'll see on the big screen within the game as fully interactive segments within the game.
During the Skyfall mission, we visit two striking locations that have been faithfully recreated from the film, as well as some fantastic acting talent including Daniel Craig as Bond that will appear on the big screen when the film is released on November 9th, 2012.
32w ago - Borderlands 2 Game Designer Jonathan Hemingway has shared details today on the Mechromancer and Captain Scarlett DLC which arrives on PSN this Tuesday.
To quote: Hey guys, Jonathan from Gearbox here! I was walking around the office the other day and wouldn't you know it -- Sir Hammerlock came up to me and handed me a letter and asked if I could share it with you. Here's what he had to say:
Dear Vault Hunters,
I'm well aware of your never-ending thirst for things to shoot and or loot, and I'm positively thrilled to announce some news nestled firmly in that avenue. Not one, but TWO pieces of downloadable content (or "DLC," for the acronym-fond amongst you) for Borderlands 2 will soon be available for your procurement.
Have you ever dreamt about romancing a mech? If so, then you have been greatly misinformed about the new character class DLC. You shall receive the pleasure of playing as Gaige the Mechromancer (she's a mechro-mancer, rather than a mech-romancer, you see - the importance of syllabic emphases can seldom be understated), a spectacularly brilliant prodigy of a girl who uses her robotic friend to slash, punch, and otherwise eviscerate the many fearsome foes of Pandora.
She can also manipulate electricity by invoking the power of science. I also hear...
32w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita handheld console.
To quote: I recently spent some hands-on time with a near-complete version of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita, ahead of its October 23rd PSN and retail launch.
And I've gotta say, it's the spitting image of its PS3 bigger brother with big, bold characters and detailed backgrounds running at PS Vita's native screen resolution. But peer underneath those pretty graphics and you'll find a wealth of new extras that make this the definitive version of Capcom's crossover fighter.
The game comes equipped with every DLC fighter from the PS3 version - including PlayStation exclusives Cole McGrath, Kuro, Toro, Mega Man and Pac-Man, of course - as well as alternate costumes for every character in the base roster.
Another nice touch is the ability to customize your character's costume color, then share it with friends via PS Vita's integrated geo-social app "near." It's also worth noting that any DLC costumes or Gems you purchased for the PS3 version will port over to the PS Vita version at no extra cost.
PS Vita's front touchscreen is leveraged in several ways, most notably to create virtual buttons on the screen that you can reposition, resize,...
