205w ago - Konami has made their Thursday announcement in this week of celebration. The original Metal Gear Solid has arrived on the PlayStation Network for $9.99.
This will give gamers who never had the opportunity to play it originally the chance to be Solid Snake in his first adventure from the original Sony PlayStation console.
To quote: Classic PSOne title Metal Gear Solid will be available on the PlayStation for purchase. Compatible with the PSP and PS3, this will give gamers a chance to see where the legacy of Solid snake began on the PlayStation. MGS will sell for $9.99.
Aside from Metal Gear Solid, Konami has also opened the Rookie Campaign in MGO. During the campaign, players who register a new account (Status determined based on PS3 hardware ID) will be rewarded 5,000 reward points which you can use to purchase in-game gear.
In addition, Rookies will also get a free copy of Codec Pack 1, which adds various in-game communication features to coordinate with other players.
Tomorrow will be the last day of announcement and many are hoping it'll be a trophy patch.
205w ago - Apparently, a picture (below) of what appears to be a movie poster advertising the new Metal Gear Solid movie has just sneaked onto the Internet today.
To quote: The poster, which is believed to have been taken at Sony Pictures in Culver City, CA, shows Christian Bale (most likely Solid Snake) and Daniel Craig (most likely Liquid Snake) along with a scheduled release for July 2011 and Hideo Kojima's name at the top.
This would undoubtedly be awesome news if we could confirm it as being 100% legit, but until then it'll remain a rumor as there are plenty of individuals out there with decent Photoshop skills.
207w ago - Turns out that the recently announced Metal Gear Solid: Rising is not going to be released only on Xbox 360.
It appears that Microsoft was just the first group to dish out details on the Raiden-starring game. That's why Microsoft didn't go around bragging about the game being an Xbox 360 exclusive.
"You know, we didn't say that it was exclusive," clarified Xbox executive and corporate VP John Schappert (the guy who held Microsoft's press conference) in an interview held after the conference.
"We said that the next Metal Gear will be coming [to Xbox 360]," he said.
"I couldn't be more excited about him [Kojima] working on that [Metal Gear Solid Rising] and having that be part of our show," said Schappert. "When I heard about that, I was pretty ecstatic and it was an honor to be able to be on stage with him and announcing his next Metal Gear, which will be on Xbox 360."
With the conference being only about the Xbox 360, Shappert wasn't exactly going to go mention a PlayStation 3 version. There you have it though, you'll see this on the PlayStation 3 as well, Sony fans.
