247w ago - With the news surfacing about BioWare - who is now wholly owned by Electronic Arts - formally announcing Mass Effect 2 for the Xbox 360 and PC, it has become rather obvious that this wasn't heading to the PS3 and here's a few possible reasons why.
First of all, back when BioWare wasn't owned by Electronic Arts, Microsoft had already published the first game for the Xbox 360 with intentions (much like Gears of War) to maintain a new franchised trilogy for the Xbox brand. People can argue semantics, publishing and trademark rights all they want, but consider Col. Sheppard the tertiary mascot next to Master Chief and Marcus Fenix.
It was reiterated time-over and again that Mass Effect was going to be an Xbox 360 trilogy. And even while Casey Hudson denied plans for a PC rendition of Mass Effect in an interview with Gamer 2.0, it was obvious the big bad MS wasn't going to let gold slip through their fingers...especially considering that the Games for Windows platform is utter crap and needed something good in its library.
The fact that Hudson lied about the PC version could prompt some gamers to believe that Mass Effect 2 could still be heading to the PS3. However, the difference...
249w ago - The current issue of Play features an interview with BioWare CEO Dr Ray Muzyka, in which he talks about Mass Effect, Dragon Age and how much he loves the PS3.
We couldn't fit it all into the mag, so here are some 'extras' from the interview:
Play: How are you finding it being part of EA? How has the acquisition changed BioWare?
Ray: We've evolved every year we've been in business and I think we're at a good place. It's great to be part of a large stable company.
Another benefit is also that we're now a developer, but also a publisher. Obviously development is still a big focus for us, but it's great to be a publisher at the same time so we can get to combine everything and make sure you're doing all things right.
We have to adapt. We're part of a larger company now. We have a whole bunch of products of our own, but EA's a very big company overall.
Play: Your older games on the PC are known for their depth and detail. Is it difficult to maintain those qualities when making a game that has to be accessible to console gamers?
Ray: We have an obligation always to make our games as accessible as possible, and yet you don't have to lose the depth and richness of the tactics, the systems,...
251w ago - About a month ago, we told you about the whispers we heard of the Mass Effect trilogy heading to Sony's console. Now it seems Bioware is implying the same thing.
In the first trailer for Mass Effect 2, Bioware gives us some interesting tidbits about the story: apparently, your character, Shepard, is assumed dead. It also seems many of the characters from the original game will appear in the sequel.
However, the most interesting thing about the trailer was the information it didn't give...
First of all, Bioware failed to mention a release date, which points to a 2010 release date; if Bioware was planning to release the game in the fall, they would have probably included the date in the trailer.
And secondly, the trailer fails to flash a console's logo. If Bioware was still in cahoots with Microsoft there would definitely be a big green "X" somewhere in the trailer.
Obviously, this is far from solid evidence. However, this coupled with the previous rumor (and other rumors that have subsequently popped up) makes it seem very likely that Mass Effect 2 will be playable on the PS3 whenever it releases.

310w ago - Chris Priestly, a BioWare community coordinator has commented that Mass Effect for the PS3 is just a rumor at this stage. However, he comments that BioWare could make Mass Effect for the PS3 in the future but they are not working on this currently.
To quote: They sure didn't. They paid over $860 million.
Sorry folks, this is just another rumor at this stage. Could BioWare make Mass Effect for the PS3 (or the PC, or some other platform) in the future? Yes we could, but we are not working on a PS3 version currently.
I don't know who Mr Pachter is. Maybe he's a PS3 owner who wants to play Mass Effect.
