256w ago - Q-Games Ltd. President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert unveiled patch details for PixelJunk Eden today, which will be released on Thursday, January 15 in North America.
For those of you from the EU, it will be out shortly thereafter, so stay tuned. To quote:
In this patch we've listened to your comments. We've gone ahead and fixed and added a few things to try and get as many people to play Eden as possible, as it really is a remarkable game... if I do say so myself. I simply want as many people as possible to experience it in full (if only we could release it for free and still make a living like some Star Trek-like future).
As you move through the gardens, you'll encounter more and more interesting ideas and concepts. In order to help people having trouble right at the beginning, we've changed the large crystals so they replenish a whole half of your oscillator (time) meter.
Even if you run out of time, we allow you to continue from the last Spectra you collected. To preserve the pride of those who gained trophies without continues though, the 'garden complete' trophy is only available if you don't use the continue system.
You don't need trophies to move forward into the game and explore new gardens, so dive in and try out some of...
272w ago - Rykomatsu of NeoGAF (linked above) has put together a simple Qonline registration guide for those interested in participating in Angel Love Online for PS3, a free Japanese MMORPG available via PSN.
To quote: Doesn't make use of PS3's hardware and don't even know why it was released for the PS3, but for those who care... 2D MMORPG in the vein of Ragnarok Online.
Download is 1049mb from PSN. You will need a Qonline account which is free.
279w ago - The Soul Calibur franchise has made its mark outside of arcades, due in large part to the console-specific cameo characters. It worked with Link and Spawn, and the newest iteration is gathering acclaim for the inclusion of Vader and Yoda.
With the popularity of digital downloads, however, the prospect of adding even more beloved characters is entirely possible. Here's 12 famous gaming, movie, and comic book characters that would fit the fighting franchise perfectly.
12- Marcus Fenix: Why not bring a gun to a sword fight? Our pitch--in the midst of a massive battle against the Locust, Marcus Fenix runs out of bullets and calls for the Hammer of Dawn at the same time as the tremendously incompetent Damon Baird. When the streams cross, it creates a vortex that leads to 16th Century. Without any ammo, Marcus is forced to rev up his Chainsaw Bayonet and slice up his opponents in order to find a weapon that can kill the Queen for good.
11- Toxie: No one-on-one fighting game is complete without at least one ridiculous character you can play as. Tekken has had everything from panda bears to kangaroos. Why not make things even weirder by throwing the mop-weilding Toxic Crusader into the mix? A mop might not seem like a deadly weapon, but Toxie has literally reduced people's faces to mush while only...
290w ago - Sega will release four games as part of a partnership with Japanese developer Platinum Games, founded by Resi creator Shinji Mikami and other ex-Clover big wigs.
One game for PS3 and 360, titled Bayonetta, stars a girl lead character with guns strapped to her feet, and is being directed by the Devil May Cry creator, Hideki Kamiya.
A short trailer (which we'll attach to this report shortly) shown at Sega's unveiling event in London lacked any gameplay footage, but it did show the female lead flip out and fire bullets into the faces of her foes. It was all very DMC-like, funnily enough.
The second title shown was a sci-fi action RPG for DS called Infinite Line. You play a captain of a customisable space ship, travelling between two galaxies as you uncover what is promised to be a deep plot.
With over 200 performance-effecting ship designs, modding your craft is a big part of the quest, as you explore what developer Nudemaker (behave) says will be the most vast world on DS.
Sega also showed off Wii-exclusive title, MadWorld - a gruesome black and white action game featuring a guy with a chainsaw for an arm.
Think Killer 7 with a sense of humour thrown in. The game has you using Wii Remote motions to stab street signs through enemies' faces...
324w ago - Here's an interesting departure from Q Entertainment's usual: an MMO, co-produced by Shockwave, featuring angels. Talk about getting closer to God! But if you're thinking "Gabriel" angels, you've got it all wrong; in Angel Love Online, angels are actually cute little winged anime girls who run around hitting flowers for experience points.
Stranger still, there are a couple different garden varieties of flowers that are out to get you, including a large drooping white blossom that maybe looks a little menacing... if you squint. Whack these evil flowers, and use some of your freshly granted angel skills to take them down even faster (or heal yourself, should you need to). If you have the correct tools, you can also fish or collect plants.
The animations are pretty simple, and even a little budgety, but they're also somewhat charming in their own way... especially if you like cute little anime girls. The interface is pretty typical of an MMO -- there's even a chat window in place, albeit not yet implemented. Surprisingly, the game is coming to both PC as well as PS3, and there are plans to eventually support a controller rather than the keyboard and mouse set-up we used during our hands-on preview.
It'll be interesting to see how the developers ultimately map all the controls to the Sixaxis,...
