Capcom Top Secret XBox 360 Game Revealed - Lost Planet 2

50°
305w ago - Last week we reported on a new game announcement incoming from Capcom. They were to reveal the game through a download exclusively on Xbox LIVE.

That teaser is now available for download. You can find the 436mb download [Register or Login to view links] to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Get downloading and as soon as we know what all the fuss is about, we'll let you know.

The secret game is, as expected, Lost Planet 2. We knew that the game was coming in 2009, and as is the case with the recently announced Dead Rising 2, we expect it to be a multiplatform title, especially since Lost Planet was eventually released for the PlayStation 3.

So what have we learnt from the trailer? Well there's a whole load of gameplay footage to watch, with the game being powered by Capcom's proprietary engine, the MT-FrameWork 2.0. The game will include significant climate change, meaning that the snow has now melted, revealing lush jungles.

New Dead Rising & Lost Planet May Go Multiplatform

50°
309w ago - Capcom's Keiji Inafune has [Register or Login to view links] that the company is planning new instalments in the Dead Rising and Lost Planet franchise, hinting that the forthcoming sequels may be released for multiple platforms.

To quote: "We're finally putting out new Dead Rising and Lost Planet games! As a main principle we're thinking about multi-platform, and expanding upon both slightly from the Xbox 360 versions," said Inafune, head of Research & Development and Online Business for the Japanese publisher.

Given that the majority of Capcom's franchises have been released for multiple consoles recently, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the publisher is thinking about taking the same route with sequels to Dead Rising and Lost Planet.

As many will no doubt recall, the original Lost Planet was released exclusively for the Xbox 360 back in 2006, before finally making its way to PlayStation 3 the following year. Similarly, Devil May Cry 4 eventually found its way onto Microsoft's console and PC having originally been conceived as a PS3 exclusive. Stay tuned.

Lost Planet for PS3 requires 5GB Installation

50°
358w ago - Capcom was kind enough to send us a pre-release copy of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for our PlayStation 3. Surprisingly, just like Devil May Cry 4, Capcom also requires a 5GB installation that can take up to 15-20 minutes.

Only this time, there isn't much to read on-screen, and it's pretty much pointless to sit in front of the TV watching it install so very slowly.

While we are confident that the 5GB installation is worth it, will this be a Capcom requirement for all of their PS3 titles? Perhaps.
