Castlevania: Lord Of Shadow PS3 Interview with Dave Cox

50°
200w ago - As a follow-up to yesterday's article on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for PS3, today SCEE Blog Manager James Gallagher has posted up an interview with the video game's producer Dave Cox today.

To quote: By now, quite a few PlayStation 3 owners will have had the chance to try out the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow demo.

What were you trying to put across with that teaser?

It was just a small taster of what to expect. The demo was created to showcase the visuals the game enjoys and as a basic introduction to how the user can enhance Gabriel's combat and abilities.

It is difficult showing the variety of the full game in just two levels, but the first stage is a sampler of the way combat works, while the second level, where Gabriel is horse-bound and battling Wargs and Lycans, highlights the variety of content the final game offers.

How would you describe the learning curve of your combat system?

It's a constantly evolving system, where the player can decide what to add and when. We wanted to remain true to the exploration ethos of the original Castlevania games, where a picture of the map would indicate areas you had...

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow for PS3: Getting to Know Gabriel

200w ago - Producer Dave Cox has made available some new details on getting to know Gabriel Belmont for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow on Sony's PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: When designing [Register or Login to view links], I often looked back at the [Register or Login to view links] for inspiration.

I would remember the feelings I had as I traversed the dark, gloomy landscape and recall the wonderful music that would create an atmosphere quite unlike any other game of the time.

For me, Castlevania was always about lone warrior battling supernatural creatures with a whip. This was the core idea that when you strip away all the layers, is what remains true for the series even now. Of course, back then, games were far simpler and story lines, characters, and the rest were often secondary to the all-important gameplay.

Over the years, games have become more sophisticated and players have wanted deeper experiences and more far-reaching gameplay mechanics. Expectations for memorable characters and realistic environments often mean it's much more difficult to find the core of a game and truly understand where something is coming from.

We decided early on...

250°
220w ago - NIS America's PR/Marketing Coordinator Nao Zook has announced that What Did I Do to Deserve This, My Lord!? 2 for PSP arrives today.

To quote: Today, May 4th, [Register or Login to view links] was released to retailers nationwide!!

Just like the original [Register or Login to view links], this newly released My Lord 2 has lots of humor and American pop culture references! You can definitely expect to find yourself chuckling while playing it.

So, what's new with this sequel, you may ask? You already know that there are more heroes and different kinds of monsters, right? Let's talk about the new game systems!

First of all, the interface has been greatly improved, as you can see from the screenshot. The Monster Bar shown at the bottom of the screen tells you the ratio of monsters you have created in your dungeon.

This will give you a better idea of which monsters you should focus on creating more of, or ones you might need to thin out. Remember, balance is the key! Also, the orange, bolded text shown on the top part of the screen are comments from the heroes. Some old wise man once said, "The annoyance of heroes makes annoying comments!"

It's so true! But don't...
