PlayStation Plus: Outlast and Metro: Last Light Free for Members

50°
24w ago - Sony Senior Community Specialist Kristine Steimer is here with the new PlayStation Plus content updates, which include Outlast and Metro: Last Light free for PS Plus members.

To quote: We're kicking off February with a little something for everyone, regardless of what PlayStation console(s) you own. PS4 owners can give themselves a good scare by nabbing Outlast, a survival horror game where you'll play as a freelance journalist investigating a psychiatric hospital. Not really a job I'd take, but hey, times are tough.

There's no fighting back in Outlast, you can climb or hide, and that's it, so proceed with caution. If you're a PS3 owner, you'll be able to explore post-apocalyptic Russia in Metro: Last Light.

A first-person shooter with the option to be stealthy, your decisions throughout the game will impact the story's outcome. Finally, our PS Vita Play sale also continues this week with Dustforce, which you can grab for $7.99.

You can download Outlast and Metro: Last Light after PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

Videos: The Last of Us: Left Behind PS3 Trailer, Interview Arrives

50°
26w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared both a PS3 trailer and PlayStation 3 interview spotlighting The Last of Us: Left Behind DLC today.

To quote: Following its strong showing in Game of the Year awards industry-wide, all eyes have turned towards the future of The Last of Us.

And that would be The Last of Us: Left Behind, the upcoming story-driven epilogue written by TLOU scribe Neil Druckmann and starring Ashley Johnson as Ellie and Yaani King as Riley, Ellie's older and arguably wiser friend.

Set before Joel and Ellie meet in The Last of Us, Left Behind will focus strongly on Ellie and Riley, adding intriguing new wrinkles to Ellie's future relationship with Joel, as well as immersive details about the game's decaying world.

With the DLC due out February 14th, we caught up with Ashley and Yaani to learn more about what makes Left Behind tick.

Today also marks the release of a new, full-length, in-game cinematic from The Last of Us: Left Behind. You'll learn a lot about Ellie and Riley's relationship and Left Behind's narrative.

Bloober Team: Basement Crawl is Blasting Onto PS4 / PlayStation 4

50°
26w ago - Bloober Team Marketing Manager Marc Colhoun announced today that Basement Crawl is blasting onto PS4 / PlayStation 4 soon with details below!

To quote: Hello everyone! Scary clowns, abandoned circuses and explosions sound appealing? Well, dive on in...

Basement Crawl is a PS4 exclusive that allows you to play locally with friends, a feature that hasn't been especially prevalent in games lately. Basement Crawl brings together retro gameplay, modern mechanics and grindhouse horror to create a completely addictive experience.

As soon as you dive into the game, you can face off against four players locally or eight players online in dynamic grid based arena mayhem. Even better, you can play 4-player local and 8-player online.

There are a total of four different classes and nine arenas to choose from. Depending on the setting and your class, you will have to tailor your approach and style for each match. Beyond that, there are unique bombs and power ups granted to each character.

Basement Crawl focuses very very heavily on skill. We don't care how many hours you grind in other games to progress and get the highest rank or unbeatable weapons. Here, it's all about reflexes and strategy. If you are the more skilled player - whether you've played for a minute or a year...

The Last of Us DLC: Ashley Johnson on Reprising Ellie in Left Behind

50°
27w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared details from Ashley Johnson on reprising Ellie in Left Behind from The Last of Us DLC.

To quote: As announced in November last year, Naughty Dog is currently hard at work on Left Behind - a new single-player story expansion for its hugely acclaimed PS3 adventure The Last of Us.

Acting as a prequel of sorts, the add-on will center around Ellie and her best friend Riley (played by newcomer Yaani King) as they attend a military boarding school in the Boston quarantine zone, prior to meeting Joel and the events in the main campaign of The Last of Us.

We'll be revealing much more about what to expect from Left Behind later this week, but to whet your appetite I sat down with actress Ashley Johnson, who so brilliantly brings Ellie to life. Read on to find out more about where the new chapter takes the character.

When did your involvement with Left Behind begin?

Ashley Johnson: Shortly after the release of The Last of Us, I went for lunch with Neil [Druckmann, Creative Director]. We sat down, and he said "Okay, I'm going to tell you the story for the DLC."

I was sitting there and just completely taken in by the story; so...
