Sony Goes Hands On with The Last of Us Remastered on PS4

50°
11w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman goes hands-on today with The Last of Us Remastered PS4 on PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: With [Register or Login to view links]'s PS4 release just weeks away (July 29th), I dove into a pre-release version of the game to see exactly how Naughty Dog is leveraging PS4's hardware to upgrade last year's biggest Game of the Year winner.

First, there's the immediately noticeable bump in native screen resolution. The jump from 720p (PS3) to native 1080p (PS4) gives the visuals a major shot in the arm. The crisp new presentation banishes those nasty jaggies to the margins, while higher resolution environment textures adorn the lovingly crafted post-apocalyptic environments.

But the kicker is the new framerate. I'll admit to being at least a bit skeptical on hearing that Naughty Dog would target a smoother, more fluid 60 frames per second for The Last of Us Remastered. I wondered whether it would add a distracting layer of artificiality, that it might somehow interfere with the game's cinematic look and feel.

Luckily, based on my hands-on experiences at a recent media event in New York City, those concerns...

To quote: The press conference at E3 2014 was a big one for us. We revealed not one but two trailers for PS4 projects we're currently developing. There was a very important announcement for The Last of Us Remastered:

You can find The Last of Us Remastered available in stores and digitally on July 29, 2014. If you pre-order now, you'll get some great additional content.

The trailer is full 1080p and rendered in 60fps, which is what we're targeting for the game. We're working on various improvements such as higher resolution character models, improved lighting and shadows, upgraded textures, functionality unique to the PS4 controller and more.

Metro 2033 & Metro: Last Light Redux: Two Games, 1080p on PS4

50°
19w ago - Today 4A Games Studio Rep Bi50N posted up a PlayStation 4 video of Metro Redux proclaiming that the title is two games (Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux) and in 1080p on PS4!

To quote: I could say how excited we are to be showing you this trailer, but I have an idea of what you really want to know... so let's just cut to the chase. Metro Redux runs at 1080p, 60FPS on PlayStation 4.

We had to sneak the PS4 development kits into Kiev to make it happen, but we wholeheartedly think it was worth it... Metro Redux includes Metro 2033 (for the first time ever on a PlayStation platfrom) and Metro: Last Light, remastered for PlayStation 4, with all the gameplay, AI, gunplay, and graphical improvements we added in Last Light now applied to both games.

You'll be able to download each game - Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux - from PSN for just $24.99 each - or if you prefer, pick up the boxed Metro Redux double pack for only $50.

Expect to hear a lot more news from us between now and release later this summer! In the meantime, please enjoy our trailer for the game!

Red Barrels: Outlast Whistleblower DLC is Available Today on PS4

50°
21w ago - Red Barrels Co-Founder Philippe Morin announced that the Outlast Whistleblower DLC is available today on PS4.

To quote: Three years ago, the team here at Red Barrels decided to strike out on our own and create a game we could be proud of, and thanks to the nearly two million of you who have played the game on PS4, we feel like we've achieved our goal and hopefully scared a lot of you in the process.

When we started working on Whistleblower, we knew we wanted to expand on the story, providing some memorable new encounters, new sources of terror, and some answers to the mysteries brought to light in Outlast.

As Waylon Park, the whistleblower who emailed Miles Upshur, you'll witness psycho killers and asylum security face off as all hell truly breaks loose. Survive, and you may just have a chance to expose the terrible secrets at the heart of Mount Massive and unmask the true face of the Murkoff Corporation for all the world to see.

Whistleblower will be available for download on PS4 today for $8.99. Try not to worry your friends and neighbors with all the screaming!
