Hand of Fate: DC Universe Online Heroic & Villainous Episodes DLC

83w ago - DC Universe Online Executive Producer Larry Liberty has shared details today on Hand of Fate - the new DC Universe Online PS3 DLC featuring heroic and villainous episodes.

To quote: Tomorrow, DC Universe Online's latest DLC pack, Hand of Fate, will go live. Hand of Fate is our fifth DLC pack, and it will be unlike anything we've offered to date. We're incredibly excited for you to check it out.

We have designed this DLC to get you and your friends fighting again in DCUO's open world. We want you back out there, battling in the DC Universe's most storied locations - Gotham City and Metropolis.

With the massive open world areas in the game, we felt it was time that we enriched these areas in unexpected ways to give you a deeper gameplay experience as you encounter the world and other players.

The content is high-fidelity, but serial in nature - our high-end players will definitely enjoy this. We have new group missions we call Operations, as well as more than 60 unique side missions.

Additionally, we have added the Utility Belt Attachments feature. This is a fun upgrade that will give you more flexibility in combat by allowing you to use more than just a single trinket or consumable item in your loadout, and will also give you more freedom to use some...

Hero City 2 v1.3 PS3 Homebrew Game is Now Available

400°
85w ago - Following up on his previous release, today PlayStation 3 homebrew developer ThatOtherDev has made available Hero City 2 version 1.3 with details below.

Download: Hero City 2 v1.3 PS3 Homebrew Game / Hero City 2 v1.3 PS3 Homebrew Game (Mirror)

To quote from his blog: Hero City 2 is an open world superhero game. You run and jump around punching monsters and robots and collecting things and in the process of doing so you upgrade your abilities and unlock new tasks. It’s a massive step up from the first Hero City.

There are some differences between this and the original Wii version. Most of which I hope to correct in future updates. But overall it’s a pretty decent port. It runs at 60 frames per second in HD and looks exactly as it should.

I think it’s probably the best homebrew game on PS3 (though that’s obviously subjective and I’m definitely biased). It’s certainly the one I’m most proud of. So I hope you like it. Feedback is always appreciated.

PS3 Linux OtherOS++ Cold Boot Custom Firmware (CFW) by Glevand

250°
89w ago - Following up on his previous work, today PlayStation 3 developer glevand has made available a Linux Cold Boot 3.55 Custom Firmware (CFW) OtherOS++ for PS3 Slim users via Gitbrew that loads into Petitboot with a single button press.

Download: PS3 Linux OtherOS++ Cold Boot Custom Firmware (CFW) / PS3 MFW Patch LV1 OtherOS++ Cold Boot Fix to Patch_LV1.tcl

To quote: Hmm, it would be really nice to cold boot Linux on SLIM. The problem is this. On SLIM we patch GameOS loader and add the OtherOS++ support.

The OtherOS++ loader reads Petitboot from VFLASH and loads it in case the OtherOS flag is set. But at cold boot we cannot access VFLASH immediately, that doesn't work, i tried even to implement retries with sleep calls, no chance.

And today i took a look at GuestOS loader in LPAR1 process 9 (LV1 3.15) and noticed the following interesting thing. It doesn't matter on old OtherOS if we want to cold boot OtherOS...

95w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has announced alongside a video trailer that Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes assembles on both PS Vita and the PS3 console today.

To quote: After seeing Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes at GDC this year, then playing the PS Vita version at E3, I've found myself anticipating its imminent release (it's out today).

With a huge Gotham City hub world and a cast that reaches far beyond the Caped Crusader, Lego Batman 2 appears to be the most ambitious entry in the venerable Lego series.

A few days ago I caught up with Matthew Ellison, a Producer at TT Games via transatlantic cable, er, telephone. We talked at length about PS Vita, the plethora of playable DC heroes, and bat nipples. Do read on:

Jeff Rubenstein, PlayStation.Blog: After seeing this game over the past few months, it's occurred to me that the title "Lego Batman 2" really sells the game short...

Matthew Ellison, TT Games: This is a sequel to the first game (Lego Batman: The Videogame), and that's a key point for us. We've learnt lessons with the first game and when we wanted to make Lego Batman 2, we thought how can we make it bigger and better.

The idea of bringing in Superman and other Justice League characters just seemed like...

The game is a charming take on the Wizardry-style dungeon crawl games with a twist - all the party members are drawn from a pool of newly-enrolled students at a Sword and Sorcery School.

It features 10 classes to choose from: Novice, Fighter, Swordsman, Ranger, Monk, Ninja, Sorcerer, Puppeteer, Idol, and one Mystery Class. Once the party is created, quests are offered and the party can choose their adventure path, unlocking ever more distant and dangerous areas to conquer as they grow in power and confidence.
