97w ago - Today PlayStation 3 homebrew developers RobS and An0nym0us have made available a PS3 RSOD (Red Screen of Death) fix for those experiencing the issue on Sony's current-gen entertainment system and gaming console.
Below are further details via PS3 Dev Wiki: RSOD Fix
The RSOD Fix - Observations about RSOD:
Seems to appear mostly on consoles with Samsung NORS (CECHLxx-CECH20xx) May be caused by an error being thrown while writing to NOR (this is theory) Mostly caused by a corrupt area of flash called VTRM
The original RSOD "fix" was actually a CFW patch to bypass the RSOD. basic_plugins.sprx was modified to ignore the error condition to allow the console to boot. While this worked, certain things like trophies still didn't work correctly.
The actual RSOD fix occurs by the VTRM area on flash being rewritten. The ability to do this is already built into the firmware, it just needs to be called.
102w ago - Today Spanish PlayStation 3 developer DemonHades has shared a video demonstrating the loading of MAtherOS in JFW DH PS3 CFW 3.56 with EGEA LV1 Patching via dynamic patching of LV1 with EGEA at the system boot.
To quote, roughly translated: MAtherOS working in JFW-DH356MA with EGEA
This video shows how it is possible to load a different Operative System in the MA all this by the dynamic patching of lv1 with EGEA at the system boot, the core is left untouched and Gentoo is used as example distribution.
In this video the dynamic patching of EGEA is put to the test to allow us to use otherOS in JFW-DH356MA.
This is one of the many functions of EGEA, expect a lot more.
Thanks to Blackdeath for making this addon, to Rokiski for EGEA, JaiCraB for his everlasting collaboration and help, to DemonHades for the collaboration and design, thanks to the demons at DemonHades.org and followers.
104w ago - Following up on his recent PlayStation 3 homebrew ports Cherophobe v1.0 and Winters End v1.0, this weekend ThatOtherDev has made available another Wii port for the PS3 entitled Hero City v0.5.
To quote: This is a PS3 port of my open world super hero game titled Hero City. It was originally made for Wii and features the Nintendomax mascot.
There are some minor ways in which I've improved the game but there are some graphical and performance problems and the player is now constrained by the more simplified collision system that was previously only used for the enemies which unfortunately means that you can't travel on top of buildings or water.
