- We're not asking which console is "better" and it has nothing to do with sales. The question is designed for avid gamers and asks that if you consider every facet of a video game console purchase, would more hardcore gamers out there choose the PS3 over the 360 at this particular point in time?
When the PS3 first launched, no real gamer immediately went out and paid $600 for what the console offered that day. I'm not saying gamers who bought it on launch day made a bad decision, but their thought process would've been very different in 2006 than it would be now, in early 2009.
Then, I know people who bought the PS3 thinking, "this is going to give me my RPG fix." Now, as a big RPG fan, I find myself continually turning to the 360 for that. Then, I really had no intention of going online at all with the PS3; if I was going to do that, it would be with the superior Live service.
Now, I actually prefer the content on the PSN, and over the past few years, the free Network has made great strides. Then, the FPS and shooter fans all talked about Halo 3 and the impending Gears of War; now, Killzone 2 owns the headlines.
There's no doubt that things have changed significantly, so it'll be interesting to hear what people have to say. We have no choice but to view both systems in very different...
