Square Enix Launches 'VII Days' PS3 Teaser Site, Artwork Leaked

400°
261w ago - Square Enix is taking a liking to teaser sites, amongst other companies like Atlus and Cyberconnect 2, in doing countdowns for reveals of Front Mission Evolved for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Final Fantasy Gaiden for DS and more.

Today, however, a new PS3 teaser site comes in as follows:

Titled "0807", the [Register or Login to view links] features nothing but the words "VII Days" and a countdown timer that ends in approximately twelve hours.

We're guessing this is going to follow in the shoes of Hideo Kojima's countdown timer and start a new countdown in twelve hours considering that the date in the title of the page is August 7th, which is seven days from now.

While searching through the flash site, rykomatsu of [Register or Login to view links] has also uncovered some new leaked concept art (below).

As for now, speculate away in the comments below!

Analyst: PS3 Price Drop Could be Announced Within Days

200°
283w ago - Analyst Mike Hickey has revealed that recent channel checks suggest that that a PS3 price cut announcement will be coming from Sony in a few days... to quote:

Whilst a PS3 price cut of some sort seems certain within the coming months, one analyst has gone one further by predicting that a drop will be confirmed within days.

"Recent channel checks indicate increased speculation for a PS3 price cut announcement from Sony in the next couple of days," Janco Partners' Mike Hickey stated, according to [Register or Login to view links].

"We think the company needs to reduce the current price by $100 to effectively restart unit velocity at retail. We believe the market is expecting a PS3 price cut in April or by June E3 at the latest.

"If Sony does not cut The Price of their console, we expect the continuation of languishing PS3 hardware sales and the potential for publishers to accelerate their reallocation of resources away from the PS3 console."

Midway has 50 Days to Rack Up US $150 Million or it's Game Over

250°
295w ago - Big trouble. Big big trouble. Midway Games is in hot water now, trying to figure out how they can earn US $150 million in just 50 days.

If they fail, they'll have to declare bankruptcy, and it's game over. After getting sold for for a mere pittance, the publisher remains in such bad shape that they're facing bankruptcy in just a little over two months.

A file from the US Securities and Exchange Commission tells us that Midway is really grimacing in financial pain right now. So far, they've got US $10.3 million in the bank, so that's US $140 million to go.

No word yet on what Midway is planning to do with the situation. Call it quits or fight to the death? Or by some miracle actually make that deadline? The health bar is running low, and the economy is itching to deliver its fatality.

Check the source link above if you want to read up on the SEC file, to the lay man, good luck trying to understand that.

Eight Days Looked Insanely Good, So Why Was It Cancelled?

100°
298w ago - Eight Days is cancelled. We know that. However, before it's cancellation, we've barley seen any footage on the game, leaving a lot of us wondering what it would have been like.

Jim Jagger, 3D animator for the game, has released a demo reel containing footage of Eight Days, and boy did it look good.

There's some footage of EyePet and Looney Toons in there, but most of it consists of Eight Days gameplay footage.

The cover manuvers looked fantastic and I could not see exactly why SCEE would stop production on this. Even if it lacked multiplayer, they could of just, you know, added it. So take a look see for yourself, what Eight Days could have been.

Video can be seen below. Enjoy!

306w ago - When SCEA announced back in June that they were ceasing the production of Eight Days many were left disappointed.

Now a video showing just how game this could have been has hit the Internet.

The video is a quick capture from the Eight Days Animation Test Level, and showing the basic navigation of the main character.
