Sony Unveils DualShock 4 Controller: Pushing the Boundaries of Play

To quote: Hi Everyone! It's a special day at PlayStation, and I hope all of you had a chance to watch the livestream of PlayStation Meeting 2013 in New York, where we just unveiled PlayStation 4.

One of the most exciting components of our next-generation platform is DUALSHOCK 4, the new wireless controller that combines with PlayStation 4 to deliver new gameplay experiences that have never been possible before.

I'd like to give you a tour of DUALSHOCK 4 and the features that will provide game developers the freedom to create brand new experiences that previously were limited to their imaginations.

Design

DUALSHOCK 4 adopts the familiar form factor of the DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller with some key enhancements:

Motion control is enabled by a new highly sensitive six-axis sensor
Dual analog sticks fine-tuned for better precision plus improved surface materials and shape for more delicate manipulation
L2/R2 buttons on the top of the controller employ a curved design for easier, smoother interaction

A new "Options" button combines the functions of the DUALSHOCK 3's "Select"...

Below are the details, to quote: PS3 fans can really go for gold this June with the arrival of the limited edition metallic gold DUALSHOCK 3 controller.

As excitement builds for some of the biggest sporting events of the year PlayStation fans can get in on the action and feel like champs with the brand new, limited edition metallic gold Dualshock 3 controller.

Available this June, going for gold has never been more apt; if it's scoring a winning hat trick or making poll position, do it in style with the metallic gold Dualshock 3 and feel like a real winner.

DUALSHOCK 3 utilises Bluetooth technology for Wireless gameplay while the controller's USB cable automatically charges the controller when connected to the PlayStation 3 system.

163w ago - Today Dancing Pixel Studios have released a PS3 SixAxis Controller v0.1 application for Android users that allows the SixAxis and DualShock 3 PlayStation 3 controllers to be used as Bluetooth input devices on many mobile phones and tablets alongside a video of it in action below.

PSVibe v1.0 - PS3 DualShock 3 Vibrating Homebrew Arrives

180w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer jjolano has released a PS3 homebrew application dubbed PSVibe v1.0, which as the name implies allows users to turn their DualShock 3 controller into a tuneable vibrating device followed by some updates below.

The release includes a normal PKG file and one for GeoHot PS3 CFW for PlayStation 3 Custom Firmware users.

PSVibe Version 2.0 Changelog:

• Added Move compatibility (untested since I don't have a Move)
• Optimized some code
• Fixed separation of settings for each controller

From the ReadMe file: PSVibe turns your PS3 controller into a controllable vibrator - complete with fine tuning of the amount of force you want and the activation of motors.
