216w ago - According to complaints across the Web, the co-op feature of Borderlands is currently broken on the PS3 console.
Symptoms of the bug include freezes when opening the public game list and a general lag-filled experience.
Gearbox Software Engineer Scott Velasquez has posted the following in the Gearbox Community thread on this issue, to quote:
Update on the North American PS3 Friends Interface issue:
We've identified the problem and are working on a fix. Believe it or not, the friends feature was heavily tested by Gearbox and 2K. However, this particular issue we found could have never manifested itself in our or 2K's test environments.
We'll find out very soon if the issue exists for the PS3 International versions of the Borderlands. If it does, we'll hopefully have a fix implemented before it affects those customers.
We are doing everything we can to get this problem addressed as quickly as possible. Thanks to everybody who provided us with tons of information.
219w ago - PlayStation Network Executive Producer Kevin Furuichi has revealed the contents of Qore Episode 17 today, which features Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time, EyePet, Blur and Borderlands.
To quote: With the return of Ratchet & Clank later this month, the October episode of Qore features a loveable Lombax, a precious pet, reckless racing and wasteland wanderers.
Is Ratchet truly the last Lombax in this universe? Can he locate and rescue his buddy Clank? The storyline that began in 2007's Tools of Destruction reaches an epic conclusion in Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time. Veronica Belmont visits Insomniac Games to step into Ratchet's shoes... err... actually, his gravity boots.
At this year's E3, SCEA impressed the audience with a demonstration of the upcoming PS3 motion controller, but there is yet another innovation on the way: the EyePet! Audrey Cleo meets her new virtual pal and demonstrates how PS3 technology could change the way we interact with games in the future.
Bizarre Creations is returning to its roots to rev up the racing genre with imaginative power-ups, weapons, and a distinctive multiplayer component. We take BLUR for a test drive to see what sets it apart from the crowd.
300w ago - Publisher Take-Two has announced the results of its first quarter, showing sales of $240.4 million and losses up to $38 million, as it announces that BioShock 2 will be released during fall of 2009, and that it has acquired Mafia developer Illusion Softworks.
Sales fell from $277.3 million the year prior, due to what Take-Two says was a lighter holiday release schedule. Sales were mainly driven by BioShock, Carnival Games, NBA 2K8, and continued sales of its Grand Theft Auto releases, including the release of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories in Japan. Losses were up from $21.5 million the year prior.
Take-Two meanwhile announced that its recently opened 2K Marin studio was developing BioShock 2, currently planned for release at the end of 2009. The publisher says 2 million copies of the original BioShock have been sold worldwide to date.
The company also announced that it has acquired Mafia and Hidden & Dangerous developer Illusion Softworks, which will henceforth be renamed 2K Czech. The studio is said to be working on Mafia II for PC and next-gen consoles.
Looking forward, Take-Two says the release of Borderlands, the sci-fi shooter originally announced in August of 2007 has been moved into fiscal 2009 -- some time after October of this year -- "to allow additional development...
