Video: Dead Nation for PS3: Baseball Stadium Showdown

100°
207w ago - SCEA Producer Daimion Pinnock has posted up a video today showcasing a Baseball Stadium Showdown in Dead Nation for the PS3 entertainment system.

To quote: The undead in Dead Nation weren't always the dirty, shambling corpses they are now. They came from all walks of life and, even after their transformation, retain a piece of who they once were.

Watch the trailer below to see what happens when the zombie plague reaches a baseball stadium.

Dead Nation features a large variety of zombie types that reflect the locales and show the transformation of ordinary people into merciless undead killers. Check out the new screens, and stay tuned to the PlayStation.Blog as we reveal more Dead Nation details in the coming months.

This comes shortly after gow3forme shared a relatively larger PS3 OtherOS Exploit Module which seemed to be loaded (the command lsmod showed: exploit 10497032 1 - loading 0x000000000012000 (P+)) but nothing appeared on the video.

To quote, roughly translated: Good. Here you have a minimum base to build the otheros.bld. The BLD takes up 30 Kb and has functions to the HDD with ext2 to save the DUMP. The functions are described.

Call table incorporates LV1 and ASM functions. This ready to assemble the mechanism of the exploit. I hope this helps those concerned who did not know where to start. It has been...

Capcom Working on Project Natal Game Based on Old Franchise

50°
234w ago - According to Capcom's VP of strategic planning and business development Christian Svensson, Capcom is working on a hardcore Project Natal game based on an old franchise.

Outside of tech demonstrations and modifications of several existing Xbox 360 games, we haven't seen what Project Natal is capable of.

Microsoft is keeping those games under wraps, however, G4TV caught up with him at CES last week and learned the following, to quote:

"I can't talk about what we're doing on Natal right now yet because we haven't announced it, although we have announced that we're working on stuff," said Svensson, emphasizing his vagueness.

He was willing to tease a little more about one unannounced game, however.

"I think you'll see again a brand focus on what we're doing there [on Natal], perhaps a brand we haven't seen in a while," he said with a coy smile, as Capcom public relations eyeballed us. "That's exciting."

Microsoft announced Project Natal would be released during the holidays at CES, but Svensson made it clear to me that Capcom was not rushing this one out the door to meet that deadline.

"We're not going to be at launch, just to temper the expectations," he said. "We're gonna cook something and it's gonna to take a while to cook."

The Green500 List ranks the energy efficiency of supercomputers around the world.

To quote: "The QPACEs Intel PowerXCell processors are an enhancement of the Cell/B.E. processor, originally developed by Sony, Toshiba and IBM for Sony's PlayStation 3 console.

QPACE (Quantum chromodynamics Parallel Computing on the Cell) is being used to simulate forces in elementary particle physics, especially in the research area of quantum chromodynamics, which describes such things as how a proton is made up out of quarks and gluons.

It consists of four racks at Research Center Jülich and four at the University of Wuppertal. Each of the QPACE installations has a top performance of 100 TeraFlops, equal to 100 trillion floating point operations per second. The supercomputer runs a standard Fedora Linux distro OS.

Each rack in QPACE contains 256 IBM PowerXCell 8i nine-core processors and 1 Terabyte storage, and uses 30 kilowatts of power."
