Roll7 Announces OlliOlli is Rolling to PS4 and PlayStation 3, Details

3w ago - Roll7 General Dogsbody Simon Bennett announced today that OlliOlli is rolling to PS4 and PlayStation 3 platforms with details below.

To quote: Well, it's been quite a rollercoaster for us at Roll7 over the last few months!

Our submission process last year was pretty hardcore, with many a pizza-stained late night at our Deptford HQ, London. The team was pretty much broken by the time OlliOlli came out.

We had broken down everything that was 'wrong' about the game to such an extent that we had managed to successfully convince ourselves that the game would most likely be a flop, a mediocre launch at best...

What we were met with on the 21st and 22nd of January this year genuinely knocked us sideways. There was media frenzy for days, amazing review scores and most of all gamers, real people (not testers or our friends) were playing the game and enjoying it.

There were numerous late-night emotional drinking sessions in central London as we essentially came to the realisation that we were a 'proper' studio with a hit game - it has still not properly sunk in for most of us!

The BIG moment was almost fate-like. We were out doing a belated wrap party on the project at our local in New Cross and at about 10pm (after many rounds of tequila) we found out via...

10tons Ltd Announces King Oddball Conquers PS4 on April 1st

4w ago - 10tons Ltd PR Coordinator Jaakko Maaniemi announced that King Oddball conquers PlayStation 4 on April 1st, 2014.

To quote: Hi PS4 gamers! I'm Jaakko from the Finnish game developer 10tons, and I've got some great news: Our fair studio is about to debut on PS4!

Our first PS4 title is a strange, skill-based physics puzzle called King Oddball. Some of you may know the game from its PS Vita version released in January. We have more great games for PS4 in production too, and we'll share more on those soon.

As far as physics-based puzzles go, King Oddball stands out quite distinctly. Few games feature a floating rock head with a ginormously long tongue as the main character. As eccentric as the theme may be, the game is decidedly straightforward. King Oddball is ending the world, and you're going to help him.

The gameplay is based on pressing a button at precisely the right moment. The King picks up a rock with his tongue and swings it back and forth like a pendulum. The rock is released when you hit X. It's not just a simple test of timing though: After the first few levels, you'll need to crush more enemies than you have rocks for.

That, in turn, requires careful strategy and anticipation of how the chain reactions will unfold. We've tuned the physics model to...

Sony Announces SingOn Launches on PlayStation 3 This Spring

50°
4w ago - Executive Producer Tommi Halonen announced today that SingOn launches on PlayStation 3 this Spring with details below.

To quote: Free-to-try singing game comes with 10 tracks, and thousands more to purchase!

Hello and welcome to a new kind of singing game! SingOn is brought to you by SingOn Ltd from Oulu, Finland. The company formed in 2009 with the goal to modernize singing games, turning them into something sleek and current.

The game has been designed for easy and agile usability so that everyone can grab a mic and have a good time straightaway. An important point for us is to make sure SingOn's always current.

Our dynamic streaming services allows us to launch with thousands of songs including rock, pop, indie, dance and hip-hop classics and to update the game every week with all the tracks from the UK Top 20 Chart. Even within the company we have widely varying music tastes so we know how important it is to offer something for everyone!

From a design point of view we wanted a simple, clean and modern interface. The lyrics are the heart of the game - guiding you on the melody and sparkling to let you know if you have sung high, low or on-pitch.

As well as great music, we've also included party-friendly voice...

GDC 2014: Sony Announces New Tools & Middleware Coming to PS4

50°
4w ago - Today at GDC 2014 Sony's Shane Bettenhausen of Developer Relations announced that new PS4 Tools and Middleware are coming to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Happy GDC! Today we're announcing that we will continue to strengthen our support for the global independent developer community by introducing more tools and middleware solutions for PS4.

SCE has entered into strategic partnerships to bring new native solutions from popular middleware vendors GameMaker: Studio and MonoGame to PS4, further expanding an already robust set of development tools.

We're also announcing that fully integrated solutions for Unity are now available for PS3 and PS Vita, with the highly anticipated early access version for PS4 coming in April 2014.

Unity, GameMaker: Studio and MonoGame represent the most popular game development tools leveraged by universities and independent developers alike, and are used for both prototyping and full-scale game development.

Jointly developed by SCE and YoYo Games, a GameMaker: Studio-native solution for PS4 is now available free for all SCE-licensed developers, making it even easier for developers to bring their 2D games to the more than 6 million global PS4 owners.

Developers of beloved games like Hyper Light Drifter...
