4w ago - Sony Product Planning & Software Innovation Director Scott McCarthy announced that an upcoming PS4 update will add Share Enhancements and HDCP Off to the PlayStation 4 gaming console!

Below are all the details, to quote: Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms.

Since PlayStation 4 launched, we've heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you'd like to see us work on. I'm happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we'll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks.

These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customize your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends.

This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize your video clips, and you'll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive.

In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we've previously said would come after launch....

D-Pad Studio Announces That Savant Ascent is Coming to PS4

5w ago - Today D-Pad Studio's Jo-Remi Madsen announced that Savant Ascent PS4 is coming to PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Hey everyone! My name is Jo from D-Pad Studio, and it's our pleasure to announce that Savant Ascent, a game about robot infested towers, magic missiles, and claiming ultimate power, is coming to Playstation.

Music and style are what the game is all about! Savant in real life is an electronic musician, and in the game you play as Savant as he appears on Savant's 5th album cover, designed by our art director, Simon S. Andersen.

Our team has been close friends with Savant for a long time, and last summer we decided that:

• We should create a game together.
• We'd use Savant's music and Simon's characters as inspiration.

We ended up with a beat-pumping, dodge-and-shoot action game, stylized to fit with Savant's tracks. Tracks could be unlocked, giving you an introduction to Savant's music, and also acting as powerful upgrades. This makes you feel like nothing can stop you once you get the hang of things.

We didn't think it was enough to only be able to shoot magic missiles and defeat robots, so we added some varying stages,...

5w ago - MLB The Show Designer Kirby St John announced today that the evolution continues in MLB 14 The Show in his Road to The Show video below.

To quote: Hey everyone, I'm Kirby St. John, a designer with the MLB The Show development team. My main focus year-to-year is improving and evolving one of our most popular modes, Road to The Show.

The mode made some big strides last year, especially in terms of gameplay and presentation, but for MLB 14, we really wanted to focus on the logic and systems that govern the mode in an effort to allow for more variety and less restrictions.

We also wanted to provide some new experiences never seen before in RTTS. The video touched on a lot of topics, but in this blog I will expand on what was introduced there and discuss some of the exciting things that were only briefly mentioned.

Topps Amateur Showcase-A new beginning to your favorite mode

Covered In The Video:

• When creating your new ballplayer, you will select a home region (West, Central, East, International), which will become your team in the Showcase.
• The Showcase...

Video: Road Not Taken on PlayStation 4: Hand-crafted Randomness

50°
5w ago - Spry Fox CEO David Edery posted up a video today detailing the hand-crafted randomness in Road Not Taken on PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: In previous blog posts, we've talked about the procedural system we use to create the enchanted forests that serve as your proving ground in Road Not Taken.

This system is what makes Road Not Taken a fun game to play repeatedly, and - as with any good roguelike - you'll need to play Road Not Taken many times before you've stumbled upon every interesting object and creature lurking in the forest.

But a purely random system, even a very rich one, can start to feel repetitive over time. Every snowflake might be unique, but after you've looked at a thousand snowflakes it's easy to stop appreciating them!

Our roguelike developer ancestors have invented a few solutions to this problem, one of which is to change the look and feel of the environment to signal when something new/important/dangerous is happening.Sewers transition into dungeons, dungeons become underground caverns, etc.

And in Road Not Taken, peaceful glades might lead to blizzard-ravaged woods, haunted groves, and dangerous ice caverns! The changing terrain is both a marker of your progress as well as a warning of new challenges to come.

Another classic...
