277w ago - We have just seen a small part of Sony Computer Entertainment conference rehearsal here at Game Convention in Leipzig, and we are almost certain that a new trailer of Heavy Rain for the PlayStation 3 with ingame footage was broadcasted.
We can also confirm that a new trailer of LittleBigPlanet will be shown and Pete Smith, Producer of the game, will be giving us some details about his game on stage.
The conference will also focus on the new SingStar sur PlayStation 3.
We will have to wait tomorrow for the Sony Computer Entertainment conference which will begin at 17:00 in Lepzig.
285w ago - Sony's Eric Lempel, director of PlayStation Network operations, has sent word that PSP Firmware 4.01 is scheduled to be released soon. The update will include two main changes, the latter being improved video playback for certain file types.
* Display of search results under Internet Search has been improved for certain languages.
* Playback of video content under Video has been improved for certain file types.
It would be nice to know which file types... Does this mean DivX and XviD format files will finally be playable through the PSP's built-in video player?
Maybe, but if so, you'd think Sony would at least mention it, instead of vaguely stating that compatibility has been improved. Either way, we'll find out for sure when the Firmware is released.
285w ago - According to the knowledge base article linked above on Sony's official PlayStation Web site, the PSN will be taken offline for scheduled maintenance tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m., until 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time. And yes, during this time, access to the online PS Store will be disabled as well.
Does this mean the elusive firmware 2.4 is due for release tomorrow? Despite what hopefuls may think, it's highly unlikely.
Though we wouldn't be surprised if Sony will be using the time to test out the key components of 2.4 before they go live, such as trophies, which are said to directly integrate with the PSN service as well as Sony's upcoming Home online community.
