PS Home Manager: PS3 Firmware 2.5, Home 1.0 in October

500°
310w ago - A PlayStation Home BETA participant with access to a restricted PlayStation Forums thread has passed along a potential release month -- October -- for the next major PlayStation 3 firmware update (v2.50), PS3 Fanboy reports.

The date was suggested by Home manager "TedTheDog" who clarified, "late October is my guess." The update will supposedly include a bug fix for freezing and network errors currently affecting Home users.

Ted (just "Ted" is okay, right?) also hints that Home v1.00 could coincide with firmware v2.50's release -- Home is currently at v0.98.

Common sense, while not always a part of Sony's repertoire, tells us that Home 1.0 is the version that goes public -- we'll see.

310w ago - Per Mark Valledor (Marketing Manager, SCEA) today:

For those of you who've pre-ordered and are anxiously waiting, we've received great news from Media Molecule - the game code has gone 'GOLD' and we've started manufacturing the PS3 cases, manuals and most importantly Blu-ray discs.

Meaning, LittleBigPlanet will hit stores in North & Latin America on October 21 (With Europe releasing the same week). But trust us, you'll want to be there with us during the first week. Why you ask?

During the first week only, to celebrate "Launch", LBP fans everywhere will be able to download a FREE, Limited Edition Spacesuit costume for your SackBoy on the PLAYSTATION Store. (Get it...Launch...Spacesuit...o never mind)

In addition to the freebie, there will also be a rare "I was there Week One" T-Shirt available - to prove that you were... well... "there Week One."

Now for those of you that haven't pre-ordered, we would hate to think you went to the store and saw the dreadful "Sold Out" sign and missed out on the FREE download. So, if you want your spacesuit, you're best bet is to guarantee your copy by heading to your nearest participating retailer and pre-ordering your copy. Besides... you'll get additional pre-order goodies...

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift crosses the Finish Line October 28th

100°
311w ago - From David Bull (Product Marketing Specialist, SCEA) today:

Hi Everyone! I'm happy to announce the official release date for MotorStorm Pacific Rift is October 28th, 2008.

This time around, the MotorStorm races will take place on a tropical island set amongst the lush jungle, emerald lagoons and towering peaks in the Pacific Ocean. Why is this important? The original MotorStorm introduced us to some fantastic racing through the desert landscape of Monument Valley. Although we delivered some wild tracks and terrain, the desert is the desert. With the topical island setting, players will be able to experience a much broader range of environments and terrain.

As you already know, there are 8 vehicle classes to choose from, including the Monster Truck! For the first time, you and your friends will be able to race head-to-head in the new 4 player split-screen mode for some major racing mayhem. The 16 diverse multi-route tracks (double the amount from the first MotorStorm) feature real-time terrain deformation that ensures no two laps are the same. Did I mention Trophy support is included?

Head on over to GameStop and pre-order your copy today to receive the retailer-exclusive demo for MotorStorm...
