XBox 360 $99 60GB HDD Live Pack Available Next Week

50°
285w ago - According to Gamestop and a leaked Circuit City flier, the rumored 60GB HDD Live starter pack is really real and will be releasing next week.

The 60GB HDD Live pack includes a 60GB hard drive, a 3 month subscription to Xbox Live, a wired headset and ethernet cable all for $99.

Quite the steep price, but it works in terms of the console pricing between an Xbox 360 Arcade and Xbox 360 Pro.

But we're not justifying the price, and 100% agree that it's still way expensive.

Capcom Diplomatically Disses XBox Live

50°
287w ago - Microsoft's Xbox Live boasts an enormous user base, however, many of its users have been nothing short of vocal in criticizing the monthly subscription fee required to fully "jump in."

Supporters of the service often cited the flexible in-game chat capability as its primary edge over the PlayStation Network, but recent updates on the part of Sony have bridged that gap.

The addition of online capabilities to consoles allowed gamers to remotely connect to each other, but more importantly, from a publishers perspective, it created a viable means for digital distribution of content. On that note, both the PS3 and 360 next-gen consoles have infrastructures capable of delivering digital content to consumers, but which format do publishers prefer?

In a recent interview, Capcom's digital content product manager, John Diamonon, discussed the current digital distribution options available to publishers. Diamonon complimented the PSN service, and had the following to say about XBL:

"As far as Microsoft goes-how can I say this diplomatically-there are things I think they'd like to do to promote content in multiple ways, and I think they'll get there eventually... but they're not there yet."

It should also be noted that Sony recently granted Capcom...

TGS 2008: Final Fantasy XIII Live Premiere Underwhelmed

100°
288w ago - Update: Final Fantasy XIII's composer Masashi Hamauzu was presenting the live event. He didn't say much but has said the main theme doesn't have a title yet and probably won't until the game is completed. He also had a 5 minute "interview" talking about the process of composing a song. That's all we have so far.

According to ff13.xrea.jp, the Live Premiere Final Fantasy XIII event that was taking place today only lasted 20 minutes and included the trailers without voices.

The event lasted 25 minutes less than it was supposed to and included no new announcements from Square-Enix. They did preview two new tracks including the main theme though.

Sadly, that was the main point of the show...it was a live music event. We'll update you as we get more info.

290w ago - From their blog, linked above: You spoke and we listened. As of today, you'll be able to track your Warhammer Online characters in your Raptr profile. Once you enter your character(s), we automatically track your characters' items, levels, and Renown in your feeds for all you friends to see.

So if you hit Level 40 before any of your friends, they'll know about it. Of course, we created a custom module for your characters, so visitors to your profile page can check them out and see how you're doing.

Timezone Support
For those of you not in the Pacific time zone, we've also added a timezone option that will update all charts to reflect your time zone. Simply go to your Account Settings page and select the proper time zone. Now you'll know for sure when your friends around the world are playing Rock Band 2 at midnight in your own time zone.

We've also made some big behind the scenes improvements to our search engine. First, we made the button prettier and easier to understand that you can change what you're searching directly from the header. We made the search engine much faster, so if your friends joined only a little while ago, they should show up in search results in just a few minutes.

Last but not least, we added...
