238w ago - PlayStation 3 is set to receive existing Fallout 3 downloadable content beginning in June, with two new add-ons announced coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Bethesda has announced plans to bring Operation Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel to PlayStation 3 over the coming months. These Fallout 3 add-ons were previously only available for Xbox 360 and PC.
Operation Anchorage will be released on PS3 in June, with the other content following four to six weeks apart. An update will be released for the PlayStation 3 version of the game to enable such content to work.
Meanwhile new content is coming for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Fallout 3. These are Point Lookout "Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content" and Mothership Zeta "The aliens have returned, and they're pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you're tough enough to survive."
Point Lookout will be released on PC and Xbox 360 in June and follow on PlayStation 3 once the three other expansions have been released. The cost for the initial PC/X360 release will be 800 Microsoft points. Mothership Zeta will cost the same and will arrive on PC/X360 in July, again with a PS3 release once the other four pieces of content have appeared on the PlayStation Network.
239w ago - According to ComputerAndVideoGames (linked above), Sony knows nothing about the rumored pics of a new slim PS3 that are said to have leaked from a production line in a Chinese factory.
To quote: The shots show the matt black outer shell of a skinnier version of the console, complete with a slots for the Blu-ray disc drive, USB ports, and PS3 branding on the top and bottom (but not in the same Spider-Man-style font).
There's even a shot of the box, with all the PSN logos and a label indicating a 120GB internal hard drive.
Quite specifically Sony told us: "We don't know anything about the system in the photos."
Now, a second "Montauk Monster" has surfaced on the shores of Long Island.
According to Montauk-Monster.com (overloaded with traffic at the moment) they were contacted by a couple claiming they've found a second Montauk Monster, and made a video (contains adult language) as follows:
To quote: The couple who tipped me off loaded the carcass into a garbage bag and took it home with them. We've been in correspondence numerous times and have agreed that for the remainder of the week, we'd keep this matter to ourselves. The remains are currently located in Southold in a cooler full of ice.
We did not contact any authorities as from previous experiences; the carcass has been taken from the finders or mysteriously "stolen". If this is a genetic mishap from Plum Island, we'd like to sell the remains to an independent lab for study.
240w ago - Bethesda seems to be taking an interesting tack when it comes to software updates for Fallout 3.
Ever since the 1.4 patch, including the new 1.5 patch (which adds Broken Steel achievements and fix a few bugs), the releases have been for the PC and Xbox 360 only.
Of course those updates, besides bug fixes, are updating Achievements for expansions that are also not available on the PlayStation 3.
This could all point back to the surcharge on downloads that Sony began implementing on PSN downloads back in October, 2008, around the time Fallout 3 was released.
Since then Sony has charged developers $0.16/GB for content downloaded through PSN. Even content that's free, like the Fallout patches, would be subject to the charge for the first 60 days that the content is out. Paid content would be subject to the fee as long as there's a charge associated with it.
This could also be why we haven't seen the major Fallout 3 expansions on the PS3 either. Operation: Anchorage released on January 27, 2009 for 800 Microsoft Points, The Pitt ended up having a broken release in...
