Uncharted 2 Details for PlayStation 3 Revealed in EDGE Magazine

250°
303w ago - CarbonCore has shared scans from the latest EDGE magazine (check out a few below, with the rest linked above) detailing Uncharted 2 for the PlayStation 3 console.

The preview in the latest issue reveals a lot of backstory, and fans of Nathan Drake will be happy to hear that Uncharted 2 will delve further into his character, showing that while he's "affable and charming, he can also be a jerk."

No longer is Nathan on a quest for Francis Drake, instead he's turned his sights to Marco Polo, whose journey back to Europe from the court of Kublai Khan saw his 600-man fleet dwindle to just a dozen survivors.

Ultimately Drake's journey will lead him to Tibet and an ancient city, which is said to house a gem that can grant wishes. The story in this game will allow for plenty of variety in the environments you'll be visiting.

Naughty Dog also clarifies what they mean by a "stealth mechanic," which put many people on edge when the game was announced. There is no intention of turning Uncharted into the next Splinter Cell; "stealth just gives you something more in the toolbox - another element, another choice that's available to you. Stealth or shooting - both choices are valid at any time."

There's plenty more interesting stuff to read in the full article. It's certainly...

North American Club Nintendo Site Live, Rewards Revealed

50°
305w ago - Just over a week ago, we reported on Nintendo launching a North American 'Club Nintendo' site.

As of yesterday, it appears that Nintendo has finally launched it at [Register or Login to view links].

Courtesy of JSR and CoilShot of NeoGAF comes the following follow-up:

It's actually pretty decent from what I've seen so far. Rewards include the Game & Watch Collection for DS, Nintendo-themed playing cards and Hanafuda Cards, various DS game holders, a Wii Remote holder, and some other stuff.

Registering a Wii game nets you 50 coins, a DS game gets you 30 coins, and Virtual Console/WiiWare games get you 10 coins. You can also earn 10 coins for saying you plan to buy a game and following through with the purchase, 10 coints for taking a survey about a registered game, and another 10 coins for a "Post Play" survey 4-6 weeks after that.

Oh, and the Gold and Platinum statuses from the Japanese Club Nintendo are in the US version too. Anyone who earns 600 coins in a Club Nintendo year (July 1 - June 30) gets Platinum status and a free gift, while 300 coins gets you Gold status and a free gift (probably not as good as the Platinum gift, though).

They say it will feature a WQVGA OLED touchsreen display, Wi-Fi (WPA and WEP support included), YouTube access features and a fully functional Web browser.

Audio codec support includes MP3, WMA, AAC, PCM, while video codec support is AVC (h.264), MPEG-4 and WMV.

There will be built-in search capabilities that can be used to learn more about your favorite artist, and users will be able to purchase full CD's of their favorite artists through the Walkman at Amazon. A powerful S-Master digital amplifier is built into this device as well as digital noise canceling to ensure optimal sound.

On top of all of these impressive features, Sony has also included a FM radio to truly differentiate this product amongst the competition.

Also, while the product shots above do not show hardware buttons for music control (previous track, play/pause, next track and volume), we believe this device will have dedicated...
